A name that many have been eagerly anticipating the next moves of, Dahu, has finally shrugged off his elusiveness and stepped out of the shadows. Emerging onto the scene with his much accredited debut EP ʻDeep in the Woodsʼ, the young artist has set high standards for himself and looks set to push off even further within the scene with his latest EP ʻNorthʼ. ʻNorthʻ is a dark, moody affair that features two originals and a remix from Nick Devon each screaming with attitude.

Title track ʻNorthʼ upholds the feeling of the EP, full of energy and yet enigmatic in its dark undertones. Haunting synth lines circulate around a bellowing bassline, whilst glass bells and falling keys give added texture and atmosphere to this murky tale.

Nick Devon steps up with his take on ʻNorth, with a remix that sharpens the elements of the original. Expertly balanced kickdrums lay against finely tuned hi-hats to give this remix a more classic house vibe.

Closing the book is ʻHow Do They Knowʼ, a delicately deep track that seals the deal at the end of the night. Backed by a structured bassline that sits below sub, synth stabs become more and more melodic whilst strong piano chords fuel the emotion.

Fresh off a busy summer yet again spent casting memorable hoodoo spells upon the ravers, Hive Audio rounds off the festival season with their new compilation "Summer Slices 2022". Geared up with a choice allotment of solar grooves and deftly surgical machine funk, this round proves particularly heady and deep if anything. 

A string of mercurial slabs, perfect to transition smoothly from the sunny days into fall's hybrid ambiences, starting with Matija & Richard Elcox "Land of Zilla" - a moody, low-slung number to kick things off proper, with its ambiguously hazy atmosphere and nimble swing leading the parade. Felipe Puertes' infectious multi-strain mashup "Everything of Life" worms its way in-limbo jagged Latin house reliefs, Chicagoan soulfulness and a tang of Afro-futuristic programming. 

Swiss duo Smalltown Collective contribute a total jacking piece of arsenal with the steadily soaring "Amira", which mixes elements of Arabic folk grammar with a liquid-like, bass-powered bounce and seesawing synths from outer space. On the fractals-unfolding "Hexagon", Chris Sen & Guy Herman pull out a fine slice of verbed-out Tech House skirting on cinematic cliff-hanging, whereas Trees of Tampa shift the scope onto cosmic-indebted, space opera-friendly ambition with the enslavingly hypnotic "Sorcerer".

Flexing muscles all the way, TSCHAN's "Gosar" taps both in the classic hardcore sound, tribal techno and sino-flavoured harmonics to weave its own Frankensteinian monster of big-room effusiveness. "Under The Table" by Roman Blum belongs to a more straightforward genotype of early house laced with hints of garage and post-French touch pop-ish fun, while SOAME's "Heat" provides exactly what's written on the tin: no-nonsense onslaughts of smouldering hi-hats, dubbed-out vox stabs and buzzing synths processed to optimal floor-obliterating effect. WHATCLASS, the trailblazing platform redefining music learning through artist-led Classes, mentorship, and structured curriculums, has joined forces with iconic DJ and producer Joris Voorn and his label, Spectrum, to offer a select group of emerging, and established, producers the opportunity to release their music on Spectrum.

Voorn, who has collaborated with WHATCLASS to create an exclusive tutorial, curated submissions from the platform's students, ultimately selecting five standout tracks for this debut WHATCLASS compilation. The resulting collection highlights innovative sounds and fresh perspectives from aspiring international artists.

Opening the compilation is Slovenian producer Eskape with 'Lost Desert,' a track that sets the mood with warm pads, wistful melodies, and ethereal vocals - a perfect introduction to our new Spectrum journey. Following is Brazilian duo Fernandez & Silvera with 'Parallel Life,' building on the momentum of their recent Purified signing 'Emptiness.' The duo's track combines delicate synths, flutes, and minimal percussion to create an uplifting, melodic soundscape.

Representing the UK, Jay Lapse raises the energy with 'CB1,' marked by relentless hi-hats, a pounding kick drum, and haunting keys that form a stark, desolate techno soundscape, softened by its eerie strings.

From there, the compilation shifts to a housier vibe with Swedish producer Magnuss and his groovy, deep houser 'I Can Feel It,' followed by the hypnotic, percussive beats of Shombo's 'Feel Ya' - two standout house cuts guaranteed to energise any dance floor and a fitting finale for this debut showcase of exciting talent.

Now, our Grandma, wise woman that she was, always told us not that people shouldn't wish their lives away, instead appreciating the moment for what it is. That however has not stopped us, longingly gazing at the calendar, pining for the summer months as March in London remains a distinctly cold affair. Then to top it all off it's STILL only Wednesday, so not even the weekend can save us from our woes. Yet fear not, dear readers, fast rising Dutch techno-head, Wouter de Moor, is on hand to brighten things up with sneak peek at his new Pinolini EP.

Forthcoming on Rejected, the three tracker sees the Amsterdam producer return to the label for the first time since the release of his 2013 hit ‘Nymphi' and follows on from well received efforts on the likes of Ovum, Pokerflat and Get Physical.

Aimed squarely at the main room, the record showcases de Moor's talent for contrasting light and shade, with each cut offering up something quite different to its predecessor. The title track takes us on a spacey - if frenetic - journey with the closing number marrying warm synths with metallic tones for a somewhat calmer finish. It's the releases middle child that really caught our ear though and suckers for those bubbling riffs it'll come as little surprise to DT regulars that it's a very acid orientated affair.

Hot on the heels of the first part of his mini album release, Oropós, Stevie R reprises his partnership with Parisinos to offer us three more doses of forward thinking fire with this follow up, Ta Paidia Tis Geitonias.

Stevie R continues to push his beloved creation, the Rebetronica sound. The folk music of Greece is allied with indie, techno and dark disco influences.

The title track opens with a menacing break beat line and 808 kick bass, laced with a hypnotic SH 101 acid arp line and the disorientating sounds of Greek folk music, which are soon joined by the vocals of Anna Maria X. Both songcraft and the makings of a powerful club tool are on show here.

Next up, Saté Saté Saté layers hook upon hook. The bassline is an earworm in itself, while the top line elevates the track to anthemic proportions, evoking a 70s psychedelic feel that gives the piece the air of a classic. This one is bound to stand out on the dancefloor and at home.

Finally Túka marks a return to break beat and mangled analogue electronics. Disembodied robot vocals mesh with detuned modular arps. The sound of malfunction has never sounded so good!

So there we have it, three tracks to conclude a mini album full of surprise and new ideas that make a new contribution to the scene. Welcome to the musical cosmos of Stevie R.
