Rayco Santos, DJ, label owner and producer. Renowned for his storytelling sets and his carefully selected, elegant sound, Rayco never fails to submerse his listeners in a beautifully progressive, deep-house trance.

Built on years of experience and respected for staying true to his sound, Rayco has managed to create a musical-realm of his own. Rayco’s sessions are filled with exquisite melodies and harmonising vocals, equally suited to night time and they are for sunrise or sunset sets.

Since the early 90’s Rayco has divided his time behind the decks and recording in the studio. In November 2011 Rayco released his first podcast, Ready To Be Chilled, a podcast globally renowned for its relaxing take on the classic dance floor scene, a fusion of Deep-house, Downtempo and Nu Disco. 

Over time the popularity of the podcast on social networks skyrocketed. To date the podcast has hit over two million plays and can be heard on most national and international radio stations on a weekly basis. 

Following the success of his podcast, Rayco saw the opportunity to become co-owner of the music label Adult Music. Re-launching in 2013 as Be Adult Music the Be Adult Team have been signing various artists and soaring to number one  in many digital stores such as traxsource. 

Travelling on a regular basis to headline events around the world in; Egypt, Belgium, Budapest, Greece, Tunisia, Barcelona, Austria, Mallorca, Marbella, Tenerife and Italy, Ibiza is where is where Rayco has found his summer base and his residencies in many top venues. 
You can find Santos mixing in Cotton Beach Club, Nassau Beach Club Ibiza, Tanit Ibiza, Santos Hotel, Paradiso Hotel, Cala Bonita (previously PK2), Dunes, and selected events in Ibiza.

PST1 the initial offering from PST records is an EP from Project Sandro, the duo of Tony Yzarnotegui (Tony Watson) and Anthony Puglisi (Rollmottle). The EP is a culmination of years of work by the duo, both individually and collectively, and it also comes at a time when the two are expanding both their production work and live performances.

PST1 begins with "Tears" an ambitious composition, clocking in at ten minutes plus. It begins with a stately, romantic rhythm that calls to mind Talk Talk, or Simple Minds. The pace is slower, more contemplative -- the mood is twilight in some future dystopia, there is a haze, the beat pics up, there are fragments of sampled vocals, the pace breaks down to a guitar rhythm and some new synth washes. You are on the road alone and the terrain is changing, a guitar lead announces your arrival, transformation has occurred.

"Brand New Day" opens with staggered percussion and keys. The synth lines soar but with a calm reserve. The song carves out space as it progresses, with tone and syncopation driving the journey. These are songs with a directed ambience. The narrative is open ended, but the feeling of a particular place is clear.

The third track on the EP is a remix of Elegant Borzoi's "Lawnmower Woman" on Adult Contemporary. Although it's a remix, the vibe of the song fits seamlessly in with Project Sandro's original work. The same sense of space, the same ennui, futuristic and melancholy haunts the work.

The crepuscular and nocturnal tone of the EP receives a reprieve on the fourth track --contrary to its title, "Desperate Hours" has an ebullience and bounce. The bassline, minimal percussion, and playful keys create a sun dappled feel.

"Mental Mother" can sound like the title to a gothic themed short story or Black Mirror episode, but the song itself has utopian strains.
The synth progressions are uplifting, there is a feeling of assurance and warmth. The mind's work conjures a nurturing mother, a better day, a sustaining world.
With every track on the EP, Project Sandro articulates cinematic and lush environs. With restraint and elegance the songs build soundscapes that give the listener room to engage with a range of emotions from the dark and foreboding to the light of some resolved clarity. Project Sandro does this at their own pace: nothing feels forced or contrived, there are no sleights of hand or overt manipulations.

Like all good art the songs have faith in their intent. The listener is offered a sense of place that they can inhabit, the specifics provided by our subjectivity, the songs rhythms carrying us to our destinations. Project Sandro's first EP is an assured offering and sets the standard for what hopefully will be a prolific oeuvre.

Dominik Marz is back at it again with another Fiction Lab entry. The Augsburg natives’ last release, a collaboration with David Kochs made our December short list of favorites and has received support from Fiction Lab elite such as The Drifter, and Aera. For this premiere, we’ve chosen the dub tool of Marz’ You Will Be Free, forth-coming on Best Kept Secrets.

Dubs of tracks are an interesting phenomenon, stripped back, fewer elements, more focused on groove however intangible that may be. They’re created to provide DJ’s and music lovers with alternatives in cases where the original versions more often than not feature strong vocals. Great for setting the tone of a night, or layering and building with due to their simplistic nature. Marz’ dub checks all those boxes and more. From the get go, an infectious loop greets the listener and sets the tone of this song as not necessarily a slow burner but a track that establishes itself early and builds element by element. Snappy kicks, synthy risers, and airy pads all contribute to a surprisingly emotional release at the break with a sprinkling of the original versions’ vocals throw into the mix. If the past is any indicator of the future, then here at Fiction Lab, we’re excited to see where Dominik goes and shall be keeping an ear on him.
