A personal letter from The Laviniere & Groove Odyssey family ❤🙏

On Sunday 3rd October we will be holding a fundraiser event for our Steve, from Bobby & Steve, at Ministry of Sound from 2pm-1am.
After battling Covid for a couple of weeks, our Steve walked into his local hospital on the 29th March 2020. As his symptoms worsened he was put on a ventilator and into an induced coma. In that time they had to perform CPR and his wife Julie received calls saying things weren’t looking good, as one by one all of his organs started to fail.
After 25 days he was taken out of the induced coma but was non-responsive. An MRI scan showed the virus had gotten into Steve’s nervous system and inflamed cells, causing a very rare brain injury called Acute haemorrhagic leukoencephalitis (AHLE- aka- Hurst disease). This diagnosis has left Steve in a state of Prolonged Disorder of Consciousness, meaning he is unable to communicate or move his body and is being fed by a tube. There’s no medicine to repair this condition, however, Steve is in a great neurological facility receiving the best care, and we are confident that his condition will improve.
When the time is right we know Steve will benefit from being at home, surrounded by the love of his wife and family, the greatest medicine of all.

This will mean major home adaptations, so on Sunday 3rd October, some of our music industry family from different genres will be coming together to raise funds to assist with Steve’s future rehabilitation.

London's leading soulful house night “Groove Odyssey” will be celebrating it's 5th anniversary on Saturday 8th November at Ican Studios.

For the past 5 years, Groove Odyssey have played host to all the big names in soulful house music from around the world, including Louie Vega, Todd Terry, Kenny Dope, India, Kerri Chandler, Joey Negro, Ralf Gum, Bobby & Steve, Josh Milan, Julie McKnight and Monique Bingham. 

Whilst the record label itself has had numerous releases and two compilation albums (the latter mixed by MrV), 

Groove Odyssey also made its debut on the London festival scene this year hosting our own ram jam arena at the Ceremony Festival in Finsbury park.

Now it's time to join our birthday celebrations! In the main room we have soulful uplifting house headlined by the one and only DJ Spen, giving you his killer beats, alongside Bobby & Steve, Neil Pierce, Sean McCabe and Nick Groove Assassin. 

Flying in for an exclusive performance is the Gospel man himself, Kenny Bobien, performing all his hits and more! Alongside this will be a Groove Odyssey showcase featuring artists performing some of our hottest releases. 

Room 2 is 80's & 90's Soul, RnB and Boogie headlined by Soul 2 Soul legend Jazzie B with full support from DJ Bigger, David Bailey and Lloyd Life and on the terrace we bring you classic, deep and dirty House hosted by London’s ultimate House station, HouseFm.net. 

Ican studios is a state of the art venue which is situated 5 minutes from the Olympic park. It has a Funktion One sound system and intelligent lighting. 
The venue also features a VIP mezzanine area with its own bar overlooking the main dance floor. 

A third room will be situated on the outside terrace with a BBQ.

Tony Wilson is a man who loves to create and play music. For over three decades he has thrilled crowds from around the globe with his soulful style of house music. He was influenced by some of today's house music legends like Tony Humphries, Shep Pettibone, Frankie Knuckles, and also the legendary Larry Levan (RIP), just to name a few. Tony grew up in the Bronx, NYC, an environment that was rich in all styles of music, which he flawlessly mixes in during his DJ sets. Tony has consistently displayed an insatiable appetite to flourish musically. Despite his early remix work and productions, he has decided to take a hiatus from the studio and dedicate the majority of his time musically behind the decks in clubs/radio mixshows around the globe. He also gives a huge part of his time by working with several non-profit organizations who provide assistance to the people in Africa who are suffering and struggling on a day-to-day basis. He has worked with a ton of organizations in Africa and was one of the first American DJs who helped put together huge AID concerts in Africa. Despite his rigorous DJ schedule, which he plays for thousands of people around the globe from Europe to Asia, he still plays with an unrivaled energy which gives him the desire to thrill and excite the people who come to hear him play. Tony will never be stagnant, but static, always trying to find a way to reinvent himself and redefine his DJ sets. When asked by one of many music magazine reporters, how would he like to be remembered after he retires from music, Tony said, and I quote, "he would like to be remembered as a man who always remained humble to his fans, gave all he had behind the decks, and always played with his heart and his soul", end quote.
