October 14th saw the beginning of Bassiani’s new party series ‘Curated by Resident’, with in-house selector Kancheli taking charge of booking and Anthony Rother jumping in as headline pick behind the decks. Rother is a German institution whose ghost in the machine vocoder-vocals and dark electro formulations dominated an era in club history and left an indelible mark on many who followed. For a few years, he took a break and let his past productions simmer, full concentration on hybrid sets and heading back to his Offenbach studio to turn whatever energy clubnights gave him into tracks. Back to releasing and touring the globe, he payed Tbilisi a visit this year. Bassiani Podcast 150 is a live recording straight from the Bassiani floor, a two hour mix of bionic bleeps and hair-raising basslines, Rother’s unmistakable fusion of man and machine is very much back with a vengeance.

Mark Broom’s ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ series on Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects dates back to 2021; since then, he’s released four volumes, with its next chapter arriving to mark the label’s first EP of 2025. Each ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ EP consists of an extended runtime of eight tracks, supported by the likes of Robert Hood, Ben UFO, I.Jordan, Pariah, Carista, Mumdance, Lauren Flax, and many more.

Across volume 5 of ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’, Mark Broom primes eight more dancefloor-ready cuts complete with rugged grooves, punchy stabs, and wild T echno sequences. From the opener ‘Romance’ and its frenzied arrangement, through to the rolling bleep-infused ‘Ranger’, Broom once again shows his mastery of rhythm and the breath of his T echno productions - one thing is certain: he continues to be one of the most significant producers in Techno after more than three decades.

Techno, House, and rave, Mark Broom is one of UK dance music’s legends and has a myriad of production credits to his name dating back to 1989. Warp, M-Plant, Hardgroove, and his own Pure Plastic and Beardman imprints are just a handful of the labels he’s worked with, while studio collaborations with the likes of Baby Ford and James Ruskin have cemented his reputation as a storied and vital part of electronic music culture.

French live Techno outfit Möd3rn debuts on Rekids’ Rekids Special Projects sibling label with the Far South EP, with part one landing 28th March 2025.

The group, whose current members include artists Electric Rescue, Kmyle, and Moteka, drop Tension first—bodied drums swinging down low while alien signals increase in intensity above. The artists follow up with title track Far South, in which jagged rhythm melds with restless stab sequences before shadowy dance cut Melancolysea overlays transcendental melodies over a dark and snaking bassline for mind-melting trippage.

Founded in 2013 by Maxime Dangles, Traumer, and Skryptöm label boss Electric Rescue, Möd3rn has grown into a notable live hardware act with a long list of releases on their eponymous Möd3rn Records label. Though Maxime Dangles and Traumer have now moved on from the project, Mord and COD3 QR artist Kmyle and Skryptöm regular Moteka have both joined Electric Rescue since. The trio’s mastery of analog sounds now arrives on Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects for the first time via part one of the Far South EP.

Möd3rn - Far South

Me and Ben thought it would be fun to play a long DJ set together at Globus, the upstairs floor at Tresor in Berlin. 
We last played together (as Frequency 7) in May 2013. This time we played a ‘back to back’ DJ set, I’m pretty sure playing 2 tracks each for the whole six and a half hour set. All we had in mind beforehand was to start with some Dub and ‘see where it goes’. 

It was a lot of fun so we wanted to share the recording with you.

After attending so many years, what a privilege it was to play my first Bang Tech 12 party at Bookies in Detroit, an annual tradition the day before the Movement Festival. This was an hour of some of my favorite “Techno Files” bangers, freshly cleaned for the podcast, so it was nice to really play them out. No looping, edits or effects, just me & a bag of vinyl on 2 decks.

Japanese Techno pioneer Ken Ishii returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects with the ‘Autopilot’ EP, arriving 22nd August 2025. It follows his first appearance on the label in 2023, where he collaborated with Dutch duo Kamara on the ‘Powerplay’ single.

‘Autopilot’ kicks oﬀ with an unsuspecting, rolling groove while playful synths sneak up and bounce oﬀ its rhythm. The trip continues with ‘Sunset Flight’, lush chords washing over deep, subby low-end, rising high before delving back into the background while delicious percs play between its pounding kick drums. Closer ‘Grid Bounce’ then returns to mischief, machine-like sequences tumbling over an unrelenting beat, excellently building pressure for maximum dancefloor wonk.

“With this EP, I wanted to combine the funky and happy side of my music with driving techno elements. The EP and track titles were inspired when I was on a long-haul flight. So happy to release these three tracks in one EP.”

DJ and producer Ken Ishii is one of the founding artists behind the Japanese Techno scene, he debuted on R&S Records in 1993 and quickly rose to global acclaim, releasing on labels like Harthouse, Exceptional, and now Rekids’ RSPX oﬀshoot, while collaborating with artists like Jeﬀ Mills, who remixed Ishii’s 2019 ‘MOBÏUS STRIP’ album on U/M/A/A.

He is also the founder of the 70 Drums label, co-brewer of KIKK IPA, worked on theme songs for the 1998 Winter Olympics and the Japanese government for the 2005 World Expo, and continues to innovate through projects ranging from video game and anime soundtracks to collaborations with Jazz artists.

This was a nice opportunity to play some things (new & old) that I don't get the chance to play out often—a mixture of edits, post-punk influences and slow-tempo weirdness as well as some acid house and Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
