Rahal or رُحَّال in Arabic, a nomad, is a member of a community without fixed habitation that regularly moves to and from the same areas. Such groups include hunter-gatherers, pastoral nomads, and tinkers or trader nomads, as well as artists. It is a word close to my identity as a DJ. It all started back in Cairo, Egypt, in 2003 when I began my career as a House DJ. After that, I started traveling quite a lot in Egypt and overseas, playing in many events and parties in the middle east and Europe. I soon began to see many different places worldwide and meet and learn from so many amazing people, their cultures, art, and music. This set is an ode and a hymn to my experience. I recorded this set during Sunrise in the Mojave Desert 100 miles outside of Los Angeles, where I currently reside. The music is quite diverse and eclectic, and I'm sure you will be able to have a glance into the journey I have completed and the one ahead.

"Ghenwa & Laila” is a Lebanese duo composed of musician Ghenwa NemNom and Dj Laila Sarkis, aka Djette. The two started a collaboration in 2020 and cultivated their signature sound by fusing the traditional Qanun (an Arabic string instrument and descendant of the old Egyptian harp) with deep electronic dance rhythms.

Ghenwa joined the National Lebanese Conservatory at eight years old, where she learned to master the Qanun. She continued her artistic journey at Oakland University in Michigan a decade later. Ghenwa is challenging the status quo and paving the way for an instrument that may be considered old-fashioned and limited to the traditional oriental music scene.

Djette has been making noise on the Beirut Dj scene since the early 2000s; she is notorious for her smile, good energy, and wide music selection. Djette is also a co-founder of Beirut’s legendary “Cotton Candy” party. She has held multiple club residencies over the decades in The Basement, Centrale, The Grand Factory, Garten, Skybar and Iris, to name a few.

As a duo, “Ghenwa & Laila” successfully crafted a unique musical experience for their audience in the SWANA region. Their heart is now set on taking this project West. The duo also aspires to inspire young girls in their region to pursue their artistic dreams.

The Beach House Gouna NY Party

Tony L Issac is an Egyptian artist in the electronic music genre. He started his career in the early 2000’s in Cairo but was soon playing all over the country including the North Coast, Sharm El Sheikh and El Gouna. He was fortunate to become the resident and music director of Tabla at a fairly young age, allowing him to learn a lot about the event production business. Through this position, he was able to play regularly in Dubai and Beirut, eventually moving to Dubai full-time. 

With this taste of the international scene, he set his sights on the global stage. He moved to Los Angeles in 2017 and started his own production company, Massar LA. He has successfully produced Massar shows in the deserts of LA, Cairo, and Misahualli, Equador. 

Tony is a sought after DJ in LA and abroad, playing in esteemed venues like Do Not Sit in Miami, Komma in Paris and Habitas in Tulum. He had also had the honor of playing at festivals such as Burning Man and The Monastery Mexico by The Gardens of Babylon. He is a mainstay at Members, a deep house institution in Los Angeles.

Tony is newly signed to Sol Selectas and is now expanding his music production resume. He stays true to his roots with Arabic instruments and vocals prevalent in his work. Tony is known for his soulful and deep sets, taking listeners on a journey.
