Born in a meteors crater, not a hero or savior
Racking up favors, just to zero it later 
Put a price on my own head diversionary tactics
Battled assassins and we all did wicked backflips
No time for the devil, I’m a couple letters off
Like a mob boss’ daughter you’d be so much better off
If the power that you held was just committed to my journal
Where it can reside for all of time eternal

the head of this spider, no arachnid sits higher
Lack a number on my back as a status signifier
Like a cross that’s been inverted, the cause has been perverted

And the forces we faced are how our power was obtained

Helpless in the ocean dragons forced to rest
Even our dearest friends now row towards death
We sail the sea and lost our home
We two alone I fear no one may come close

Wrecked and stranded, hopelessly abandoned
Two dragons stuck without nary a sandwich
Call it an idle isle, no smiles for miles
Underbelly overgrown, safe to say wild
Ceaseless sounds from the gulls all around
Can’t hear my own thoughts, about to break down
Eyes lock, fists touch, endurance now found
Promise made not to rest in this ground
Tried to build a raft, raft didn’t get far
Luckily close enough we could outswim sharks 
Arranging stones to entice the sky
Into providing hope though we know hope lies
SSOS - someone save our scales
Reptiles, not amphibians, evolution failed
Built a hutch in the sand, Dan tilled the land
Started fire by hand while discussing our plans
But fire went out, hutch fell in sea
Turns out morning tide touches everything
Lack of escape suddenly so clear
We remain determined not to give into fear
Then one night - amid the sounds of our screams
Draped bodily in the slime and the weeds
Subsisting on moss which clung to our teeth 
Screams turned into songs sung on repeat
Sprawling waves carry dulcet tones
Til they find some lobes to call a home
After months on the island now a boat appears
Too far from hope, entrenched and sincere  
They land on the beach - we take them by surprise
Jam our thumbs in their eyes and steal their supplies
Take their vessel and their lives, then suddenly realize
We probably could’ve asked for a ride
