Turning up the heat for this next release, London based producer RETNA returns to the label with none other than Toolroom’s head honcho Mark Knight as the pair deliver ‘What I Need’, a debut collab that’ll carve up dance floors worldwide in 2022 for sure. 

Having made his debut back in 2020, as part of our ‘Toolroom Miami’ album series, RETNA himself, is the London based DJ and producer fast making a name for himself in the scene. Catching the attention of Mark Knight and Saved Records owner Nic Fanciulli through his tight productions, especially on their 2021 collab – ‘This Is Life’ which smashed dance floors worldwide, RETNA’s signature sound that the buzzing producer is fast becoming known for.

‘What I Need’ takes this to the next level, focusing on a raw, arpeggiated synth line that cuts through the records tough, chunky bass line and groove. Back on the firm in true style, we’re welcoming UK selector and producer Huxley who is set to drop ‘All I Need’. A man on a mission in 2022, Huxley himself has already released a string of deep dance floor weapons on Ultra Music, Undisputed records and Toolroom with his last release ‘Waiting’, an emotive cut inspired by the nostalgia era of 90’s rave culture dropping on the label back in February. 

With a discography spanning imprints such as AUS Music, Realm, DFTD, Club Sweat and more behind him, when it comes to Huxley’s records you know they’re on point.

Shifting the gear up on his next outing, Huxley delivers a high dose of classic UK House, mixed with Huxley’s Sublime production prowess resulting in ‘All I Need’. An artist not bound by conventional genres, Huxley’s sound shifts and melds into whatever fits the record, and that is certainly true when listening to ‘All I Need’. After emerging from a 10-year hiatus back in 2021 with Fatboy Slim’s official “Earworm of the summer” record – ‘Steels’, Dave Spoon has returned once again, this time diving deep back into the vaults of classic House to rework the stone, cold classic cut ‘Outrageous’.

Originally released by Judge Jules and John Kelly as Stix ‘N’ Stoned in 1996 on Universal imprint Positiva, Dave Spoon has emerged out of the shadows to rework this timeless club classic.

Dave Spoon himself, is a firm member of the Toolroom family, an artist who was a staple for both the label and the wider electronic music scene back in the 00’s. Having secured his massive dance hit ‘At Night’ back in 2006, launching his career and leading to his later project Shadow Child which achieved critical with singles ‘String Thing’, ‘Piano Weapon’ & ‘23’.

Fast forward to today, and Dave Spoon drops a thumping rework of this 90’s classic, focusing on the sounds that defined an era, remade for clubland in 2022. Building around the iconic synth melody, squelchy Acid lines and piercing strings, taking the original to a whole new level.

How It Feels

Hi everyone ,

Today, my EP « Nocturnal Memories » has been released on all streaming and sales platforms! I am very happy to be able to share these two tracks with you. It took me almost 3 months to create them, despite my full-time job as an engineer!

The name « Nocturnal Memories » was chosen as a tribute to all the memories of nights out and the amazing people I have met in such environments. The first track, « Hard Night, » for which I had already made an explanatory video, is a memory of all those incredible parties that last until the early hours of the morning. The second track, « Forgotten Land, » is a memory of all those nights I spent alone in the middle of the forest, listening to music and contemplating the vastness of the surrounding sky!

I would also like to thank @imorx_records for believing in my music and delivering exceptional mastering quality. A big thank you to @_iron_perez_ as well, someone who puts their heart into their work and brings incredible audio quality to my tracks through their experience and passion for mixing and mastering.
