Toolroom kicks off 2023 with the latest edition of Leaders Of The New School – an album series devoted to championing new and emerging talent in House and Techno. 

The album welcomes 16 new and upcoming artists to the label, each a graduate of the renowned Toolroom Academy production school. Established in 2015 as the label’s educational arm, the Academy exists to break down the barriers between new artists and the electronic music industry via cutting-edge music education and mentorship. 

Leaders Of The New School 2023 boasts a wide variety of fresh international acts, including label debuts from established artists Harpoon, Dale Move, Nolek, CHESSER and breaking through undiscovered talents such as HARRT, Charmian Love, Loz Seka, Myla and Emma Clair.

Korean-born, New Zealand-based producer La Felix unveils his latest musical endeavor with the release of the electrifying Bassline Jump EP. Known for his vibrant fusion of nu-disco, funk, and house music, La Felix continues to push boundaries with tracks that are both timeless and irresistibly danceable.

Inspired by the legendary Prince, La Felix brings a fresh twist to classic disco elements in his new EP. “For HOT,” La Felix shares, “I was inspired by Prince-esque guitars played super high up on the fret, with a super tight staccato rhythm. Once I had the rhythm down, I knew I wanted the track to revolve around the theme of something ‘HOT’.”

The EP features a dynamic lineup of tracks including Do It Like That. Each track showcases La Felix’s knack for crafting infectious grooves with a contemporary edge, while honouring the golden era of disco and funk.

SUPERFETT RECORDS continue their series of club slammers as the winter months close in, this time welcoming DALE HOWARD to the label, who offers up the boogie inducing Heavy EP.

‘Satisfaction’ kicks things off, dominated by thumping drums and swelling bass line, Dale uses hooky vocals cleverly to raise the energy levels throughout the duration of the song which progresses further as ride cymbals add a darker, heavier layer.

‘Heavy’ does exactly what it says on this tin! This is pure warehouse vibes, with echoing vocals to launch you upwards throughout the builds and a simplistic yet highly effective drum pattern which lock around the rolling bass line underneath. London based DJ and production trio, Jaded, make their debut on Hannah Wants’ Etiquette this month with their brand new ‘Bang Bang’ EP. Best known for their quirky and bumpy House driven vocal tracks and with previous successful releases on powerhouse labels including Toolroom, Black Butter, This Ain’t Bristol, dirtybird and Mad Decent’s Higher Ground, the talented trio are proving their production prowess with countless streams, top chart positions and sold out live shows across the world. Title track, ‘Bang Bang’ kicks off the EP; an energetic vocal cut that will instantly get the floors moving with shuffling drums, a playful bassline, compelling grooves and resonant vocal chops throughout. B-side ‘Feel’ follows suit featuring the hypnotic vocals of Eda Eren alongside rolling percussion, punchy basslines, infectious drum patterns, moody chords and cosmic synths.

French-native Malikk debuts on Hot Creations this December with the two- track Heu Como Bailar. The EP continues a busy 2020 that has seen him release on labels such as LouLou Records and Two Many Rules.

The title track sets the tone, with punchy kicks sitting alongside driving hats. An irresistible 4x4 groove acts as the backbone, before the infectious Heu Como Bailar vocal helps whip the beat along. Rounding things off is Got The Body, an unapologetic dancefloor cut that you can’t help but dance to. Up-tempo, hard- hitting and with plenty of obscure-sounding squeaks throughout, the near five-minute number showcases the up-and-coming talent at his best.
