Kevin McKay might be best known for his cover versions and remixes. Over the last couple of years, he has been returning to his roots as an original, deep house artist, bringing the creativity and energy that made his 90s releases as Muzique Tropique, Sixteen Souls, or Studio Blue so beloved back in the day. To celebrate this, we are releasing a collection of his favourites, titled, quite simply, “Some Originals (Volume One)”. To add a unique flavour, he has delivered a brand-new single, “Deep Trouble,” and an update on his collaboration with Mallin and Nyla. NYC-based DJ & producer Michael Grald has been sending us his brand of vocal tech since 2022. On hearing his first demos, we paired him up with Terri-Anne, and they released the percussive roller “City Of New York” that same year. Since then, we’ve watched him develop his sound via Amsterdam-based label, Anything Can Happen. His latest release for us takes in some Amsterdam influence for sure as he heads into deeper house territory with “In My Head”. A groovy beat, lovely bubbling synths, and a super, loopy vocal deliver all you need here for a DJ-friendly roller. Classy.
