Recorded and designed a big mix of some of my favourite lush, deep and atmospheric jungle / drum and bass trax from the late 90s, progressing from jazzy and dreamy to hard and fast 💿 Evolving from its rougher and more rave-focused predecessor (  https://soundcloud.com/5atu8ion/xtatic-hardcore-mix ) the atmospheric sound is a truly magical and forward-thinking genre that still sounds like the future, even 25-30 years later .

I was also pretty inspired by original record designs from the genre so I designed a cover for it based on them and a bunch of 3D renders made with 90s 3D software to visualise the mix. Although I felt the fomo hard from seeing everyone's posts on the socials at all the festis, it didn't stop me from working away at music, collecting the best tracks I can find and feel inspired by, perhaps you too. Lost Highway - A Trip Hop Mix

Recorded and designed a huge 2 hour mix of some of my favourite old breakbeat hardcore / rave / oldschool jungle tracks from the early 90s - beginning at rough and chaotic early hardcore and following it as it evolves and shoots off into jungle tekno, darkside and eventually the beginning of the more lush and complex atmospheric jungle sound - https://soundcloud.com/5atu8ion/atmospheric-90s-jungle-mix 

Really inspired by the incredible art of old rave tapes and hours trawling through youtube and discogs listening to low quality rips of them, still full of so much raw energy and urgency despite their age- like music from another dimension, lightning bottled in these psychedelic little plastic cases. Was a lot of fun using old software to replicate the otherworldy oldschool 3D look of the renders on many of these old tapes and flyers (youtube video with visuals here -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuSpRSgFKJA) and designing for cassette for the first time. Been sitting on this project for a year and a half now so feels good to have it finally finished, and especially fitting after just spending a year in the uk where this all came from :)
