What a night! Our first resident night at the one and only Monarch Berlin Club (24.9.) after the 18 months Corona break was a very special moment for me. We had a fantastic TSTD resident night at Monarch Berlin last saturday. Lots of friendly, smiling faces on the packed dancefloor. Amazing fashion styles too, as you can clearly see from the foto....  
Thanks to everybody who joined our ride! 

here is a recording of 11pm - 2am: I especially love the early hours as it is this pure slow smooth disco session, that gets people into the dancing mood. 
The Mix is the way it is with all little human mistakes, distortion and things that happen if you deejay close to the dancers (like talking to someone and forgetting the next mix....). it features a ton of edits we released on Too Slow To Disco, which makes me very proud. thanks to all the smooth producers involved!

DJ Set: Too Slow To Disco/DJ Supermarkt at Monarch Berlin 29.4.23

Janary 20th 2024 was a very special day for Too Slow To Disco and Dj Supermarkt, as we celebrated the 10th year of our TSTD residency at Monarch Berlin Club, and also finished the residency on the same night.

This is a live recording of 3:30 hours of peaktime smooth disco dancing turning...not so smooth.... ! 

Thanks so much to everybody who came, smiled and danced with us. We had an incredible time, but there were a few very deep emotional highlights, that brought tears in our eyes....:

and biggest of all and probably my highlight moment of the night:

The night and TSTD have always been about being a dreamer, so what a beautiful statement!
A very special thanks goes out to those of you, who attended the night regularly, some since day one. I love you!

We here at TSTD are longtime fans of Mexican producer/musician MONSIEUR VAN PRATT.
So it’s a great pleasure to finally work with the smooth man.

For our joint 7 inch he delivers two smooth, warm slow-disco tracks:
Side A is a slow disco edit of a super rare Mexican late 70s cover version of Bobby Caldwell’s classic love song “What You Won’t Do for Love”.
Side B takes us into the church of Black Soul, a slow Gospel Soul track for your sunset disco beach bar dj sets.

Monsieur Van Pratt, founder of Super Spicy Records, is a prominent producer and DJ originally from Mexico City, whose influence on
electronic music is widely recognized both nationally and internationally. With an impressive career that includes more than 100 releases in digital format and 26 on vinyl, which consolidate him as a key figure in the genre.
His music has been released by prestigious record labels such as Toy Tonics, The Disco Express, Tropical Disco Records and Buddha Bar, among others, underlining his status on the global scene. His ability to fuse genres, attention and styles has captured that of critics and the public, leading him to collaborate and remix a series of renowned international and national artists. Among his most notable collaborations are works with Derrick McKenzie, drummer of Jamiroquai; Drop Out Orchestra, Art Of Tones, amongst others. We are so happy and proud, that Mister “Westcoast” Joel Sarakula wrote an exclusive track just for our compilation. The latest album by the Australian born London resident and multi instrumentalist “Soft Focus” is his 9th, a mid-career album spanning his many influences and genres including Soft-Rock, Funk, Soul and Smooth Pop, all brought under the umbrella of his gentle gaze and a 'soft' aesthetic. Highlights include the two Shawn Lee (of Young Gun Silver Fox fame, also on our compilation with an exclusive track) produced tracks “I'll Get By Without You” and “Telephone Calls”. This is a lovingly crafted album, well polished and it feels like the culmination of Sarakula's adventures in soulful soft-rock and his defining statement in the genre. While comparisons will be made with contemporary projects like Shawn Lee's Young Gun Silver Fox, Drugdealer, Benny Sings and Prep, echoes of soft-rock icons Ned Doheny, Boz Scaggs, Todd Rundgren and Michael Franks also ripple gently through the album.

After a five year break mainly concentrating on the late 70s/early 80s Westcoast Soul/Yacht/AOR sound, we finally dive deep into the modern world of our beloved sister-label Too Slow To Disco NEO (for the third time after 2018s TSTD NEO - En France and 2020s The Sunset Manifesto excursions).
But of course it wasn’t a real 5 year break since the first Sunset Manifesto compilation, as in the meantime we also released a few digital TSTD Neo singles, and – more importantly - our "Too Slow To Disco NEO - FM" playlist on spotify (handcurated by Dj Supermarkt every week and now hosting more than 1500 tracks of mellow, modern sunshine vibes) was growing steadily and becoming a new, important fixpoint in the TSTD musical universe.

So it makes sense that we present the "crème de la crème" of new slo/mo Nu-Disco/Sunset Disco/Daytime Disco acts in the TSTD format, a luxurious compilation, with artists from all across the globe: Not only from the two homelands of that modern slow disco sound, Los Angeles/California and France, but also from Beijing, Montreal, Mexico, London, New York, Stockholm, Rotterdam… the moon, you name it! This music is more a state of mind, a feeling, then a geographical thing.

In 2015, the four members of Prep came together to cut deep grooves that mine contemporary R&B and electronica while hearkening back to the soft, sheer sound of the late ’70s and early ‘80s. The love for that style united vocalist-lyricist Tom Havelock, keyboardist Llywelyn Ap Myrddin, drummer Guillaume Jambel, and producer Dan Radclyffe. Prep is pop music that feels tip-of-the-tongue familiar even though you’ve never heard it before. They have a massive following in some Asian countries, especially Indonesia, Thailand and The Philippines, collaborating with local stars Live and in recording. Their self titled debut album arrived in 2020, followed by “The Programme” (produced by Renaud Letang) from 2024, featuring the original version of “Call It”, their cooperation with legend Eddie Chacon (of Charles & Eddie – “Would I Lie To You” fame). So how did the collab come together? We asked the Preps: “The first time we heard Eddie Chacon’s “Holy Hell” we fell in love with it instantly and thought “we have to do something with this guy”. A year later we were going to be in L.A. for a few days, so we had a word with our label, they got in touch, and next thing we knew there was a session in the diary.
That one day with Eddie at the Stones Throw studios in Pasadena was one of the best we’ve ever had, where everything just happened very naturally: we met, we got on, had tacos, Eddie had a melody idea, we put a beat down, chords down, the equipment worked, the stars aligned… We wrote “Call It” in an afternoon. It’s “Georgy Porgy”, it’s “Always There”, but really it’s neither. It’s us and Eddie Chacon, channeling a lot of good feeling through a roomful of drum boxes, synths - and an electric sitar.”
We here at TSTD headquarter are huge fans of the original track already, but we quickly had the idea to have L.A.’s Turbotito remix the track… and a dream come true.

This L.A. duo comprises of Simon “Woolfy” James and Dan Hastie and they’ve been releasing music since 2000 for a who’s who of contemporary disco/electronic labels: DFA, Rong, Future Classic and Permanent Vacation. Their latest album “Destinations” (on Permanent Vacation) is their fourth studio album. The pair are committed to a laudable task: making California into an outpost of the Balearic islands – endless summer, guaranteed! Their music combines the classic West Coast sound with a twist of dark disco and a twilight vibe. This exclusive track is something of a disco odyssey! Close your eyes and “Seeds” will recreate the warm glow of a Los Angeles sunset, backed by the distant rhythm of the Pacific. A deep, rolling Moog bassline drives the journey forward, steady and hypnotic like the open highway. Lovetempo is the brainchild of Mattie Safer, known for his work as the singer and bassist of Poolside and The Rapture. For Safer, Lovetempo has been a way to fuse saudade sentimentality and jazz-funk with modern dancefloor sensibilities. Following a run of well-received releases on Brooklyn tastemakers Razor-N-Tape and toucan sounds, Lovetempo now brings TSTD this special edit of his cover of Anita Baker’s “Same Ole Love (365 Days a Year),”. The track features New York nightlife icon Prince Terrence on vocals, bringing his signature touch to a timeless classic. Originally self-released in 2023, Lovetempo has extended and dubbed out their original version, transforming it into a hypnotic slow-disco groove that feels as cool and effortless as a summer breeze. Expect warm falsetto floating over the most laid-back, organic disco-bossa rhythms. Angus and Alex are the friends and bandmates behind Goodvibes Sound. Despite only starting to create music together in 2019 the two released their debut album “The Institute” in 2022 – a blend of upbeat discofied soul, indie doused in a heavy dose of psychedelic vibes. Inspired by 1970s California, hot tubs and beach bars, Goodvibes Sound craft groovy psych-pop tunes with a disco twist. Poolside (Los Angeles) exclusive compilation remix 
Poolside is the recording project of producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jeffrey Paradise. The Poolside project began in a converted Los Angeles backyard pool house in early 2011 when Paradise (back then with his partner Filip/Turbotito) set out on a low-stakes journey to produce appropriately chill music for summer soirées. The pair envisioned a light but danceable kind of music with sunny vibes and liquid rhythms that they dubbed "Daytime disco". Since then, Poolside has released five acclaimed albums – “Pacific Standard Time” (2012), “Heat“ (2017), “Low Season” (2020), “High Season” (2021), and “Blame It All On Love” (2023). Poolside are one of our longest companions in the small (but perfectly formed) universe of slow sunset disco. “Ventura Highway Blues” was our favorite track from his last album, it just needed a slightly more beat-focused version and who better to take remix action than Mexico’s Monsieur Van Pratt. This is the first track released by Poolside since he lost everything in the L.A. wildfires – so a heartfelt kudos to him for rediscovering the joy and sharing it with us.

DoctorSoul is one of the hottest Parisian Disco & Soul producers, who releases his music a.o. on Yam Who?’s überhip Disco Label MIDNIGHT RIOT RECORDS from London. His releases often reach the Disco DownLoad Charts, he just reached No 1 in the Traxsource charts with “Secret Friend”. He has his own unique production style, which is always on the dubby side if things, but still very poppy and true to the original. A difficult balance, that he masters like not many others.  One of the reasons for this special sound might be the fact that he was born and raised in West Africa. On the musical production side, DoctorSoul has collaborated with many artists/ bands from diverse genres (Funk/ Disco/ Boogie/ Rock/ Rap and even in Jazz) in bringing production remixes for the likes of legendary Brazilian pianist virtuoso TANIA MARIA, singer JEFF CASCARO, or Soul/ Westcoast music band MANDOO, and Disco/Funk veteran act INTERVIEW (among others...).
