Unlike traditional Dungeon Synth, which is rooted in synthesizers and dark ambient textures, TopfHelm reshapes the genre by removing electronic sounds altogether. Instead, the music is built on realistic medieval instrument emulations, from hurdy-gurdy, lutes, and war drums to flutes and bagpipes, creating an authentic yet raw medieval soundscape. This marks the emergence of Dungeon Folk, a subgenre that strips away synthetic elements in favor of a more immersive, battle-scarred medieval atmosphere.
