Before Torch became the artiste that he is today, a variety of different events occurred in his life, propelling him to make adjustments and develop into a resilient, ambitious, hard-working and extremely talented individual. Growing up in the rough streets of Trench Town, Torch went against the grain and focused on school in order to make a good life for himself. He explored his love for music by joining his school choir and then becoming a member of the Little People and Teen Players Club. This allowed him to express his creativity, hone his talents and learn the dynamics of voice and performance. Just as he had begun to blossom as an individual and a performer, his mother passed away while he was still attending Camperdown High School. Torch switched to survival mode. His extreme sense of responsibility drove him to temporarily sacrifice his education and his passion for music to seek a job so that he could help himself and his seven other siblings make ends meet. Torch struggled to resist the call of music, but before long, the call became too ‘deafening’. He relented in 1997, taking a job as studio engineer at Black Roots Studio where he could feed his need for music while still earning an income. It was while working at the studio that Torch received the encouragement from his peers that pushed him to embark on his musical journey as an artiste. In September 2003, while going by the name Honey Cone, the young artiste was introduced to Donovan Germain of Penthouse Recording Studio. And, it was around that same time, that Tony Rebel dubbed him with his current moniker Torch. It was not long after that he scored hits with ‘Quality Time’, ‘So Let It Be’ and ‘Fire Burning’ (which became the show opener for Fire Links).
In 2005, Torch began touring with Reggae star Buju Banton. “The experience was wonderful cause it took me to a lot of places, placed me on a lot of shows in Barbados, St. Kitts and St. Marten. In the U.S. I’ve done shows in Atlanta, Miami, Orlando and New York. The biggest venues were Reggae On The Hills in Barbados and Madison Square Gardens in New York”, says Torch. This is in addition to the many local shows including Rebel Salute, Reggae By The River Marcus Garvey Tribute, Reggae Explosion and Bob Marley Birthday Celebration.
Torch, has worked with several producers besides Donovan Germain and Tony Rebel and names Mario ‘Mad Scientist’ Lawrence, ‘Bobby Digital’ Dixon, Fifth Element Records, One Blood Productions, Gargamel Music, Silly Walks (Germany), and Yaad House (Australia) among them. He also names Luciano, Buju Banton, Sizzla and Beres Hammond as other artistes who have had significant influence on him.
Now, as Torch looks forward to the release of his debut album through VPAL Music / VP Records, he anticipates sharing more of his music with the world as he continues his musical journey.

Nearly a century ago, in the year 1920, the honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey prophesied:

“Look to the East for the crowning of a Black King, he is the Redeemer for the days of deliverance are near.” 
 
In the spirit of the great ancestor, an army of Roots Reggae soldiers have organized and centralized in a musical tribute to our forefathers (and mothers) who have paved the way for Rastafari culture and Afrikan liberation theology as I & I carry the torch into the new millennium.

The "To Di East" Riddim, available on all digital music platforms as of April 6th, is the brainchild of the Jah-N-I Roots Movement in collaboration with the Bantu Nation Movement. Both collectives operate out of Boston, Massachusetts with seasoned musicians, Jahriffe & King MAS respectively, as the spearheads of each production team. The musicians responsible for this instrumental, infused with a celestial tone and vibration, are one of Boston's top musical ensembles known as Circadian Riddims. Many recognize the potency of the "American Reggae" music coming out of Hawaii and California, but this heavy one-drop Reggae release will give you a reason to look "To Di East".

In the opening number, Jahriffe teams up with Jamaican Reggae veteran Warrior King. Drawing upon the often quoted biblical verse "in my father's house are many mansions," the warriors cry out for "tolerance" and unity in these times of division and strife amongst nations.

The dub heavy sound of the project is due to the masterful mix provided by the skilled hands of Wadadah II of the D.O.V.E. Muzik recording label out of Chicago, Illinois. Emerging from this powerful musical camp, founded by Tzaddi Wadadah I circa 1983, 2 vital messengers are featured on this project by the names Kazayah & Ras I-Dre.

Kazayah sets the tone early on with her "mission" statement urging one and all to put aside "petty prejudices" and "come together" with a tone and delivery both hypnotic and captivating. 

Ras I-Dre, a young fierce lyricist from Jamaica, then invokes the entire pantheon of Roots Reggae legends (past and present) in a tune paying homage to all who have maintained the vitality and integrity of this "Sweet Reggae" music throughout the years featuring vocal harmonies from Kazayah.

As usual, King MAS reaches into the ancestral realm as the "musical Obia man" and highlights one of the founding fathers of the Ashanti kingdom by the name Okomfo Anokye. "Can't Draw We Out" brings light to the sword that Anokye drove into the ground during his time as an Ashanti high priest in the 17th century. Anokye stated that "if anyone removes the sword, that marks the end of the Ashanti kingdom." The legendary sword, which remains unmoved & can still be seen in Kumasi today, inspired this musical tribute expressing solidarity between the people of Ghana and the children of the bloodline carried into the diaspora.

Finally, Jahriffe reveals more musical Mdu Ntr as he encourages one and all to "be who you come to be" and recognize your own divinity. "God Body" is followed by the "Spiritual Ancestor" dub mix by Wadadah II which any Roots Reggae practitioner would do well to add to their collection. As we move through the vernal equinox, the light of the sun rising from the east has overtaken the darkness enveloping the planet during the winter months. Just like the ever increasing power of the sun, look out for more heat from these Reggae warriors and light bearers ‘trodding’ from the east and chanting "To Di East".

Torch aka Kevin Campbell grows up in the streets of Kingston, Trench Town and knows even as a child that he wants to become a musician. He focus on that aim since than and looks back on many musically releases. In 2003 Torch was introduced to the owner of the legendary PENTHOUSE Studio called „DONOVAN GERMAIN“. Since than he was called as an artist
„Honey Cone“ and it was Tony Rebel who gave him his artist name TORCH.

His most famous songs so far are: Good Reggae Music, Quality Time, Wanne Know, Word,
Sound, Power, Can’t get we out and many many more. 

In 2014 it is time to present his musical Repertoire to the european listeners. „Always Alert“ is
the name of his current tour through Europe.
