Helt siden Norge fikk dilla på Sansen og Reint Mel(i påsen din) har Tôg lagt lista høyt for det som skal komme. De har også møtt forventningene: Tôg har gjort god figur på by:Larm og spilt på SXSW. De har til og med fått ungdomsdrømmen oppfylt da de var på MTV! Gode kritikker har heller ikke uteblitt: Blant annet trillet Lydverket en femmer og påsto:”...live gjør Tôgs dansbare og høyst organiske elektropop lite annet enn å spre tonnevis med varm glede. Og dans. Og latter.”

 Siden debutplata Drøm kom ut høsten 2011, har bandet jobbet iherdig med nytt materiale. Tôgs nye plate skal hete Feiring, og fra de som har hørt det nye materialet er det visstnok en skamløs leken fest som venter oss, med New-York disco, norsk disco, 80-talls boogie/funk og innslag av 90-talls R`n`b som stikkord for destinasjoner bandet vil ta oss til.

Så langt har de sluppet boogie/disco/funk perlen "Når Me Våkne Opp Imårå" og space-disco/deephouse låten "Maridalen" for å vise noe av spekteret som kommer på Feiring. Platen er skrevet og produsert av Lars Christian Olsen sammen med Ådne Meisfjord som også har bidratt på låtskriverfronten. Miksingen står Eric Broucek kjent fra å ha jobbet med bl.a. LCD Soundsystem, Holy Ghost, !!! m.fl.

Making Marks’ debut album A Thousand Half-Truths is a collection of heartwarming pop songs, touched with Scandinavian cool. Blending sweet male and female vocals with a lush soundscape filled with jangling guitars, buoyant drumming and textured synth lines, the Norwegian quartet have a real knack for melody and a keen ear for rich instrumentation.

Making Marks formed in Oslo in 2012 and are made up of Ola Innset on guitar and vocals, Nina Bø on vocals and keyboards, Marie Sneve on bass and Jørgen Nordby on drums. They’ve gigged with the likes of Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Asobi Seksu, Allo Darlin’ and Marit Larsen, and have toured extensively around Europe and the USA, including appearances at SXSW.

They recorded a number of tracks for the album at Soup Studios in London, with Simon Trought and Giles Barrett. It was their influence that saw Paul Rains from Allo Darlin' playing lap steel on the song “Barcodes” and this led to Making Marks supporting Allo Darlin’ in Europe. The rest of the album is recorded in Oslo with respected indie producer Sjur Lyseid, who has worked with the band in various guises over the years.

A Thousand Half-Truths as an album is one of tensions – both resolved and unresolved. Making Marks initially planned to go down a folk/country musical path, however they soon realised that indie came more naturally to them. Yet, the tension between the country and the pop still remained, with folky melodies echoing the extended harmonies of The Carpenters, whilst their propensity for banjos, ukuleles and harmonicas faded away to leave the band sounding more integral and functional. This left them with a set of quietly confident, melancholy country songs as played by an bubbly indiepop band.

There is also tension between the lyrics and soundscape as well as between the warm, dreamy, more life-affirming songs such as "Lemon Sheets”,“Flying High Forever" and "Forgive and Forget"; and the political, critical and often pessimistic approach of "Like Spinning", "A Thousand Half-Truths", Barcodes" and "Ticket Machine".

If you do the sums, A Thousand Half-Truths equals five-hundred full truths. Yet songs are just songs – they can tell you something about life but just a glimpse at a time, revealing only half-truths but in the end perhaps that’s all we need.

Første singel fra Kråkesølv sitt nye selvtitulerte album.

Fredag 28. mars slipper Kråkesølv fra Bodø sitt fjerde album.

De fire unge Bodøværingene målbandt musikksynsere med utgivelsen av sitt første album, Trådnøsting i 2009. Blandingen av symfonisk rock og klassisk visepop, akkompagnert av sterke og samtidige tekster på syngende dialekt, var eksotisk og nytt, og bandet opparbeidet seg raskt en fanskare over hele landet.

Knalldebuten har blitt fulgt opp av to solide albumutgivelser og utallige konsertrunder over hele landet for et stadig voksende publikum.
Som et av de mest bemerkelsesverdige norske bandene i sin generasjon har Kråkesølv inspirert og imponert med tekstmateriale, konsertopptredener og en stadig like markant profil. De har blitt belønnet med Spellemann og samarbeidet med artister som Øystein Greni, Marit Larsen og Karpe Diem.

Siden sist har Kråkesølv byttet ut et bandmedlem, noe som later til å ha revitalisert bandet. Den nye trommeslageren Jørgen Smådal Larsen (Lukestar), har sågar produsert albumet, sammen med sin makker Martin Bowitz, i Malabar Studio

Kristoffer Nohr Unstad gir oss et innblikk i det kommende albumet: Endringen i besetning har spritet opp uttrykket vårt, og lydbildet oppleves som hakket mer kontant enn tidligere. Førstesingelen «Ikke rart vi blir sprø» er et godt eksempel, der instrumentene hele tiden jager vokalen inn mot neste refreng. Denne litt mer umiddelbare tilnærmingen er tilstede på flere av låtene, men musikken på albumet er likevel ganske variert. «Bare på besøk» krydres med blåsere, «Hoffnarr» er vel det nærmeste vi har kommet rendyrket post-rock, og avslutningssporet «Plukka verden fra hverandre» er noe så unikt i Kråkesølv-sammenheng som en countryinspirert ballade. Tekstmessig kommer betraktninger om avstand, utilstrekkelighet, småbarnsliv og – selvfølgelig – kjærlighet på løpende bånd. Det handler ofte om viktigheten av å koke de store tingene ned til de små opplevelsene, og balansegangen mellom hverdagen og eventyret.

Hos Kråkesølv har tekstene alltid stått i fokus, i tillegg til gjennomgående flott design på utgivelsene. Denne gangen har bandet fått med seg noen av Norges mest spennende unge illustratører, som har fått fritt rom til å visuelt tolke teksten til hver sin låt på den nye plata. Resultatet får du se fremover mot albumutgivelsen i mars.

We fell in love with Norwegian https://soundcloud.com/atella after hearing just a few notes. With her enchanting voice, Kristiane lures you into a dreamlike state and lets you experience the seductive sound of Atella’s electronic pop music. ‘The Monster’ is their impressive first output and leaves us hungry for more.

London based electronic soul music duo Stubborn Heart, signed to One Little Indian, seemed perfect to add breaks and bass to ‘The Monster’. We are big fans of their debut album (which was crowned Album Of The Year at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards 2013), imagine how excited we were about their contribution.

Xinobi, who runs the Discotexas label with Moullinex, recently did remarkable remixes for Agnes Obel and John Grant. His taste in music is rather eclectic, as are his productions. He strips Atella’s original to its core, leaving only the vocals behind. His rework is built around an uplifting piano lick and a ridiculously funky bassline. From Portugal with love.

The Monster is taken from ‘The Blue Collection’, the second installment in a new compilation series on Eskimo based around colours. It’s the follow-up to last year’s lauded 'The Pink Collection’.

Synth duo Shy for Shore have announced the upcoming release of the melodic and 80s-inspired ‘Love, Again’ this May. The single is set to build upon 2013’s breakthrough EPs ‘Then The Heartbreak’ and ‘1985’, which saw Shy for Shore’s meteoric rise as one of the most up-and-coming acts in Scandinavia. Forming in 2011 following a chance introduction at Camden’s Roundhouse, Shy for Shore quickly developed a penchant for post-rock and overdriven riffs. Inspired by the local sound of their environment, the band’s original outfit cut their teeth around the London local gig circuit. 

However, a move to the Netherlands completely reorganised and altered the band, transforming them into dreampop shoegazers reflecting their location with a chameleonic power. Heavy praise followed the organic change of sound, including critical admiration from Crack in the Road, HillyDilly and Under the Radar. Since establishing themselves in Norway, including national television appearances and having their work on the soundtrack of an independent film, Shy for Shore are setting their sights on the rest of Europe with plans to tour extensively throughout the year. Shy for Shore’s Love, Again is the group’s flagship during this expansion. With a heart made of ice that melts at the touch, Love, Again is an achingly beautiful track and the listener’s perfect introduction to Shy for Shore. Mari Nordén’s heartfelt vocals are marched perfectly with melodic and ocean-deep synthesisers courtesy of Oz Page, painting a composition that is delightful electronica possessive of the beautiful human spirit. Reminiscent of 80s synth whilst still being wholly originally, Shy for Shore and Love, Again are headstrong and powerful creations, a 21st century spirit dropped into a legwarmer distopia.

Shy for Shore’s Love Again will be self released this May on both physical and digital formats.
