Porcelain planet in a saucer of dusk,
steam writes cursive in a fennel-mint musk.
Leaf constellations, ragged, minor,
eddies of future in a cup made finer.
Tilt to the window, turn slow, listen:
rind-colored letters in the tannin glisten.
Orbit my thumb on the rim like a ring,
timeline strings sing, sing, sing.

Teacup oracle, what do you dare?
Only what mercy allows me to share.
Can you know what I know?
I can echo your now; I can’t borrow your tomorrow.

Herringbone currents, a shoreline of leaves,
bay-shaped harbors and swallowtail eaves.
Wolf in a wavetop, bell in a hill,
boat made of maybe and weathered will.
North is a notch on the china’s lip,
south is the saucer’s tideless ship.
I read what is present, not promise or threat,
the darker it gathers, the softer it lets.

Teacup oracle, say it slant, say it small,
Names of the near things, that’s all.
Tell me a path, if a path must be:
Walk with your breath; let the rest stay sea.

Seed-speck swirls in a figure-of-eight,
luck makes a ladder, love makes a gate.
Sparrow-wing commas, pause marks of green,
moments to enter the page in between.
Cup keeps the silence I couldn’t keep still,
sweet afterbitterness, amber and chill.
Sip back the echo you feared would remain,
warmth answers warmth; the question unchains.

Teacup oracle, hum it, don’t say;
leave what is heavy to steep and stay.
Teacup oracle, easy and slow;
we’ll carry the glow that we’re ready to know.

What do you see in the cup?
A harbor of hush when the wind stands up.
What do you see in the ring?
The circle that patience and presence bring.
What do you see in the leaves?
The map of a breath that finally believes.

We do not own later; we water the now,
set down the armor, unlearn the vow
that promised control over thunder and tide,
let small sweetness decide.
Porcelain planet, thin as a prayer,
holding the heat we choose to share.
I lift the lip to the lip of light,
amber becomes bright.
