How I Do It

Musician born in the 70s and shaped by the explosive 90s dance revolution, I was drawn to the vibrant sounds of techno, rave, and eurodance. Trying to replicate those beats on a painfully limited budget, I started out with FastTracker 2. Progress was... let’s say, gradual, until I stumbled upon Cakewalk and Propellerhead’s tools. By the late 90s I’d gotten my hands on a Yamaha CS2X, which kicked off "The MINT Experiment". For a long time my music kept a consistent feel, with a signature "single tone bassline" threading through many tracks. My strength has always been in rhythm, which gave MINT’s releases their edge.

The real breakthrough came in the fall of 2022, when I leveled up my setup with Reason Studio (finally leaving their older software behind) – and was ready to step things up. Since meeting my partner in 2023, I've had invaluable support on this journey, with time and freedom to explore my music, even as we compete in tug of war together. Thanks to everything along the way, many of my tracks sound completely different today.
