This track is in E Phrygian scale.

The base is played on Arturia Minibrute 2s, with the tremolo done by LFO on the frequency modulation, and there is a rising saw LFO on the filter. The oscillator is a square wave with a pinch of saw tooth mixed in, and a sine sub oscillator.

The pads are done on Volca FM, with a soft version of the Pluckkey preset, with long decay, slow attack, and a very mild vibrato.

The real star is the Volca Keys, which does the lead licks - it almost sound like an electric guitar. The trick is to close the filter quite tight, with a steep envelope and a high (but not the highest) resonance; there are two octave-apart sawtooth oscillators. I am really happy that I've found yet another sweet spot of this amazing synthesizer.

The kick comes directly from Volca Kick, and the rest of the drums are from the Electribe Sampler. 

Everything is recorded live to Tascam DP-24 portastudio, which I also used for all mixing and mastering. Panning of the high hats and cymbals is done in the electribe, and the lead synth and pads are panned in the portastudio. There is a hall reverb on the lead synth and the pads, and only a very light compression and eq on the master.

Made for Benn and Sarah's Sample challenge using ONLY the samples they provided. All created on the Synthstrom Deluge using its dodgy time-stretching. I lost a lot of progress thanks to a time-stretch bug and I'll never get it sounding the same again - but here is the final result!
