Episode 79 - You Decide!

For episode 79 I gave the audience a chance to voice their input. I started things off with some slow jungle from Uplift and Paradox at 155bpm and worked my way up from there. I took DnB/Jungle subgenre requests from the Twitch crowd and found what I had in my library to fit it. The night included everything from atmospheric jungle to breakbeat hardcore to old school jump-up, tech step to modern rollers, liquid dnb to halftime to neurofunk, and just about everything in between. It was fun trying to cater to the will of the crowd so directly and definitely an show format I'll revisit in the future.

Illegal Shipment joins the ranks for WORSHIP004, delivering attitude fueled 2-step heaters with unnerving undertones - authentically infusing elements of dubstep and grime akin to the aesthetics of late 90’s and early 00’s mutations of UK garage.

Drawing from the more aggressive sounds of early bassline, “Cheque It” opens with kick led grooves and sharp drums, evolving in the latter half to abyssal bass hits with shimmering synths offering a lighter contrast in the mix.

“Fight It VIP” is a heads-down lights-off-in-the-basement tool with creeping synths 
& stuttering 2-step complemented with pulsing, sub-shaking, warped bass. Short breaks give way to abrasive samples and disquieting stabs. 

Dripping in old-school flavour, the digital bonus track “Nuff Talk” brings punchy kicks, slowed vocal samples, and gritty bass lines together with playful ease and a warm, rough-around-the-edges aesthetic.

‘Distortion Detectives’ is the debut EP by Fukinsei and Broken Audio, where the duo investigates the creative manipulation of distortion through impure forms of destruction. Their collaboration emerges for the first time as this impulsive EP produced in Berlin.

The investigation opens with ‘Detective Fire’, a solid footwork track whose heavy chopping creates a thread of tension that leads to sharp breaks. The overbearing bass keeps this apparatus of saturation standing. ‘Dystopia at Choka’ is an indefinable escalation of erosive violence, a climax of clipping or perhaps more simply the result of a Sunday hangover after a party in Berlin.

The release, with its boundless, amorphous approach, shows its interest in believing in projects that celebrate a crossover and delightfully DIY approach.
