Today we welcome Tortuga, the Denver-based duo, into our WUMP family with this killer single, “Flip The Breaker”!  These two innovative, wildly creative musicians have been on fire this year, establishing themselves as a dominant force in the renowned Denver underground scene with their highly addictive, refreshingly original style of music.  With each release, Tortuga continues to evolve and dip their toes into different genres and styles, which makes them an invaluable contributor to the electronic music scene.  While they may have originally made a name for themselves by impressing the electro-funk / electro hip-hop communities, they refuse to confine themselves to that box.  They push the envelope time and time again, venturing into electro-swing, glitch hop, sexy downtempo, and just downright filthy bass music.  Their vast musical diversity and range, combined with their guitarist’s showmanship and mind-melting riffs, make their live sets really special, and word is spreading very quickly about these guys.  We’re humbled and ecstatic to welcome them to our team.

For their WUMP debut, they set the guitar-infused funk aside, and delivered this KILLER progressive bass tune, “Flip The Breaker.”  Powerful bass kicks drive this piece right from the start, taking us on a journey through different levels of melody, heavy womps, and ever-evolving percussion rhythms.  “Flip The Breaker” is undoubtedly progressive in a really interesting way, as it utilizes a common theme and structure throughout, while the rest of the song swirls and swells around the foundation.  It starts off simple, and snowballs into an absolute monster of a song that will be a dancefloor favorite this summer.  If you have a subwoofer, you’ll definitely want to break it out to listen to this song to fully experience the heavy bass, because it’s really something else.

Exactly a year and a half ago, a group of friends decided they wanted to help each other’s musical careers in any way they could, realizing the amount of talent and mutual respect between one another.  We had a shared vision of a world where electronic music was no longer devoid of artistic ingenuity, and thus, WUMP Collective was birthed into the multiverse.  What began as a couple musicians sharing tips and promoting each other’s work, has evolved into a massive family of passionate art-lovers, weirdos, and creatives with a communal focus on improving the world around us in the best way we know how: creating & sharing art.  We have expanded our roster of amazing artists to include several more musicians, a photographer, a few ground-breaking painters/artists, and a makeup artist that blows minds.  While serving a niche community of art-lovers, we continue to dip our toes into a wide variety of different styles and mediums of art, allowing the most avant-garde of artists a chance in the spotlight.

Our mission:

With the media constantly focusing on the unfortunate happenings around the world, it is easy to feel weighed down and like we have no hope in turning things around.  What they DON’T focus on is that for every “bad” thing that happens, there are about 1,000 amazing, beautiful things happening every moment around the globe.  Babies are born, paintings are finished, novels are written, inspiration for a new song pops into a musician’s head, and did I mention all the orgasms?!  

The world is a beautiful place, but it is easy to fall into the traps of society and give up on your passions because you feel pressured to ‘play the game’.  While balance is an important key to inner peace, we absolutely refuse to give up our passion and play by the rules.  We will never stop fighting for our dreams.  We will pursue them relentlessly, and embody purposefulness and integrity in our efforts to do so.  If you are reading this, we invite you to join us on our journey, and we hope that our music and art inspires you to create your own art.  We feel confident that this community will continue to grow and define us as human beings, and we hope we can bring some light, love, and positivity into the world by building each other up and supporting each other’s passions unconditionally.

Today’s release:

On the music side of things, we recently surpassed 2,000 followers on Soundcloud.. something we did not expect to happen so quickly.  Thanks to the love and support from our loyal fans, friends, and families, our music has spread to every corner of the globe (spheres don’t have corners, bruh).  To celebrate this milestone, each of the WUMP Collective artists contributed a song to release in this WUMP 2K Compilation album, making it our biggest, most exciting release to date.

It is named after Saturn's 6th largest moon, which looks to contain the necessary components that would support extraterrestrial life. We know this because of Cassini, a spaceship sent to study Saturn, its moons, and its wonder.

Cassini's mission ended today, September 15th, so we thought it fitting to release our track Enceladus in celebration of it's 20-year quest through space.

It feels serendipitous that our 20-year journey as a band has been going on as long as Cassini has been exploring. And though Cassini's mission may be ending, ours still feels like it's just beginning 🚀 

We're grateful for this life and the ability to continue to share art + music with you all. Enjoy the new track and we'll see you on the Enceladus Tour ✌️
