THE CAPITAL

A long time ago, a human fell into OLD HOME.

Injured by its fall, the human called out for help.

The queen's son heard the human's call.

He brought the human back to the castle.

Over time, the two became like siblings.

The Queen and King treated the human child, CHARA, as their own.

The underground was full of hope.

Then... One day...

CHARA had fallen very ill.

The sick human had only one request.

To see the flowers from their village.

But there was nothing we could do.

The next day.

The next day.

...

CHARA had passed.

The queen's son, wracked with grief, absorbed the human's SOUL.

He transformed into a being with incredible power.

With the human SOUL, he crossed through the barrier.

He carried the human's body into the sunset.

Back to the village of the humans.

He reached the center of the village.

There, he found a bed of golden flowers.

He carried the human onto it.

Suddenly, screams rang out.

The villagers saw him holding the human's body.

They thought that he had killed the child.

The humans attacked him with everything they had.

He was struck with blow after blow.

The queen's son suddenly released a bright light, blinding the humans.

...

He had fought back.

Humans, one by one, fell to the ground, wounded.

Until...

One struck the queen's son, critically.

Clutching the human...

He ran back to MT EBOTT.

There, at the mountain's peak...

His SOUL and CHARA's split, along with their bodies.

Pludging CHARA into the capital's garden.

The kingdom fell into despair.

The queen and king had lost two children in one night.

The humans had once again taken everything from us.

The queen decided it was time to end our suffering.

In an intense fit of rage, she declared war on the humans once again.

She declared...

Every human who falls down here must die.

With enough souls, we can shatter the barrier forever.

By sheer luck, or fate...

You fell down here.

The queen hasn't been keeping communication.

She's been shut in the garden for ages.

She has failed us.

But...

It's not long now.

If we all have our hearts beat as one...

Queen TORIEL will let us go.

Queen TORIEL will give us hope.

Queen TORIEL will save us all.

This is finally her chance to prove herself.
