I Wish You Never Drove Me Home

In the words of the artist Christina - The song "Eclipse" is about grief. It's an honest cry to God in the midst of deep sorrow that says "God, please let something good come out of this. Please don't let this pain I feel be for nothing." In a solar eclipse, the moon passes over the sun in the sky and almost blocks it out- but it can't completely block it out because the sun is so much bigger. The light from the sun just shines around the moon. In really hard times it can feel like the darkness kind of consumes everything, but God is able to still give us hope and peace in spite of this. This song is a reminder of this hope and the light He can bring to the darkest of situations. A little over a year ago, I started writing this out of sympathy for many of my friends who were grieving. A few months later, I also experienced grief and this song became my personal prayer.

The Abyss

In the words of the artist, Esther Garza -

"I wrote this song in the fall of 2014, when there was a lot I was struggling with emotionally. During this time I was doubting the characteristics of God that I had grown up hearing were true. "Hallelujah" is a reminder to myself that no matter what I'm dealing with God is good and His love is stronger than the grave. There is also a community aspect incorporated into this song when the chorus says, "We sing Hallelujah" and "We sing praise be to the Lamb." Often times I forget that I have a supportive community around me that can help pick me up when I've fallen down and forgotten the God that placed me here. Ultimately, this song speaks the truths about the faithfulness and sovereignty of the Lord that I so often fail to remember."
