God's Secret Keeping Grace 

1. Let us keep this thought in view
Abraham is an ancient you;
His experience is a type
Of our present Christian life
God of glory did appear
To him His calling was made firm
‘Till he reached the high point on God’s house
He must have stayed.

2. Yet how easy ‘tis to fall
When some trials would befall;
Test of famine would expose:
We just care for our own cause
Sovereign God is still preserving
Though we may forget to trust Him
With God’s secret keeping grace
Get back to the race

3. Tis for His purpose not our success
That we’re still blessed by His grace
For our learning not an excuse
Ne’er a reason to abuse
God is faithful though we are not.
People change, things come to test us
Yet God’s secret keeping grace
Holds us all our days

4. When we think henceforth we have gained
One life’s lesson we have learned
Still another test is required
To ensure what we’ve acquired
Many times the second testing
Comes from wealth and many blessing
For our own we never strive
With God we’re satisfied.

5. God of glory, our sovereign Lord,
Who called us for Your purpose
All our lives we depend on You
Do appear to us anew;
Who alone can save from falling
On this high point keep us going,
‘til we reach the highest calling
The New Jerusalem!
