"Coffee Date" was written with the image of walking in the snow all bundled up with your loved one, just relaxing, looking at city lights with a coffee in hand - warming you up every sip with smiles, laughter and joy.

I wanted to make it sound like "Joji" would sing on. 

I used 2 melodies from the Zodiac pack - I started with "Liquid" as my verse. I pitched it down 4 semitones, cut some parts and reversed it, EQ'd the highs and some lows and I added no effects on it. I used the sample from "Liquid" to make the bass, found a sine wave and looped it. Delayed the attack to remove the click and I added RBass from waves to beef it up. The 2nd verse I chopped and cut the sample left some spaces in between to give it more flavour.

Next, I used "Face" as my chorus EQ'd the highs and removed the lows, added some reverb and RC-20 to give it more body and space, added a little noise too to add some texture. Cut some of sample and reversed it at the end to give it more leeway for the next section. Then I chopped it and just kept the main chord progression and stretched it. Finally I added Timeless 3 from Fabfilter to give the shimmer effect, sampled it and layered it to the melody.

The drums I used are from the melodies itself. The kick is from "Rewind" I picked the kick removed the background chords by EQ and shortening it then stretch it back. Pitched by 1 semi tone, added saturation and EQ bell on 73hz to add more body to the kick.

The snare or rim is from the "Numb" piano melody, I isolated the 1 note played and shortening the note, pitching it down then resampled it. Then I added EQ to remove the lows and highs boosted the high mids I then added saturation and reverb to make it wider and give more width to make it sound like a snare. Then I simply copied it pitched it up and copied it 3 times panned it left to right and that's the drums. 

Hihat is just a stainless cup lid I sampled and processed. Then I added some foley on the last chorus.
