What better way to commemorate this achievement than with a compilation, ‘The Formation’ VA LP, that encapsulates the sounds and artists that have fueled the label’s journey so far

All nine of IRR’s past contributors, along with key members of the In-Reach family, have collaborated to create this emotionally charged Various Artists album.

"The sci-fi vocal sample introducing Altitude’s ‘X15 Exp1’ sets the tone perfectly for this other worldly track. Smooth yet eerie pads haunt the bass line as the track drops and rolls through to the breakdown. The vocals return to set up the second drop, which enters with decidedly more bite and attitude through to the finish."

WONK#AY Records close the curtain on an era with the final instalment of their legendary Contagious series, ‘Forever Contagious’, landing this Halloween.

17 years deep, the label’s VA compilations have been a breeding ground for chaos, creativity and sonic rebellion, celebrating the wildest corners of Drum & Bass, Halftime, Jungle, Garage, Dubstep and Hardcore.

This last chapter features 27 global heavyweights and underground innovators including Ankou, Seppa, Audio Gutter, Aeded, Bunkle, Joro Dudovski, Gade System, and Aytch plus many more. Expect raw bass energy, boundary-breaking design, and the unmistakable WONK#AY grit that’s kept them infecting the scene since 2008.

There’s even an 8-track limited vinyl edition for collectors, pressed to shake walls and memories alike.

‘Forever Contagious’ drops 31st October 2025. This is the end of the VA era, but not the end of WONK#AY.

Total Science - A Brief History

Jason Greenhalgh (Q-Project) and Paul Smith (Spinback) first met in 1987 brought together through their mutual love of hip-hop music. Over the next few years the pair developed a deep appreciation for Techno and Dance music at the beginning of its worldwide takeover. By 1991, Spinback was an established DJ, gracing the decks at events week in week out including the world famous “Universe”, meanwhile Q-Project had entered into the studio, his first release "Freestyle Fanatic", Their first label, Legend Records was launched with Q-Project’s highly acclaimed "Champion Sound" in 1992. It took their profile to new heights, and it remains one of the most influential tunes of its time and generation this was swiftly followed by the start of their early recording career together under the name Funky Technicians ……and so the unstoppable collaboration had begun.
In 1996, the well established pair launched the Computer Integrated Audio (C.I.A) label and the alias Total Science, was born. Over the coming years, Total Science had releases on all the major D&B labels including Metalheadz, Goodlooking, Moving Shadow, Hospital, Tru Playaz, 31 Records, Reinforced, Soul:r, Shogun Audio to name but a few, as well as releases under their own C.I.A. and various other imprints.

Total Science/ Q-Project have release 4 albums, however, the actual number of singles and EP’s the pair have released is currently an unknown quantity. Their relentless yearning to create music and dogged approach denotes there are just too many to mention! but defining tracks of Total Science 20 year career include:
