Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2009, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, through Skankandbass Introducing we release a series of free download singles which aims to spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

Up-and-coming German talent Dava started his musical journey back in 2010, DJing around Freiburg before picking up producing a couple years later.  Now after almost a decade of honing his skills he’s finally broken out through excellent releases on Celsius, Transparent, Sub:stance and Four Corners, presenting his signature take on the funky, soulful and deep drum & bass.  We’re extremely excited to welcome him to Skankandbass Introducing with his most complete work to date, ‘Endless Spiral / Snake Bite’.

The A side effort sees the prolific Random Movement on remix duties spicing up Malaky, Satl and Skeletones lush sounding ’Future Blues’. Signature RM sounds right here with a larger then large second drop that gives the track a similar deepness but groaner feeling then the original.

Trespass kicks things off in true Total Science style. Tribal drums, atomic subs, springboard delays and warning chants all carve out a seriously heavyweight riddim that chugs out effortlessly from start-to-finish.

After launching into the limelight in 2010, Jubei has rapidly become one of the most sought-after artists for any label worth its salt. His take on Total Science’s ‘No Justice’ (originally released back in 2002) has already garnered support from the likes of Goldie, Bailey & Alix Perez. Thumping two-step breaks lead the march from the get-go, giving way to abone-shaking sub, old-skool rave stabs and ragga sound-bytes. Not to be missed!

Total Science - A Brief History

Jason Greenhalgh (Q-Project) and Paul Smith (Spinback) first met in 1987 brought together through their mutual love of hip-hop music. Over the next few years the pair developed a deep appreciation for Techno and Dance music at the beginning of its worldwide takeover. By 1991, Spinback was an established DJ, gracing the decks at events week in week out including the world famous “Universe”, meanwhile Q-Project had entered into the studio, his first release "Freestyle Fanatic", Their first label, Legend Records was launched with Q-Project’s highly acclaimed "Champion Sound" in 1992. It took their profile to new heights, and it remains one of the most influential tunes of its time and generation this was swiftly followed by the start of their early recording career together under the name Funky Technicians ……and so the unstoppable collaboration had begun.
In 1996, the well established pair launched the Computer Integrated Audio (C.I.A) label and the alias Total Science, was born. Over the coming years, Total Science had releases on all the major D&B labels including Metalheadz, Goodlooking, Moving Shadow, Hospital, Tru Playaz, 31 Records, Reinforced, Soul:r, Shogun Audio to name but a few, as well as releases under their own C.I.A. and various other imprints.

Total Science/ Q-Project have release 4 albums, however, the actual number of singles and EP’s the pair have released is currently an unknown quantity. Their relentless yearning to create music and dogged approach denotes there are just too many to mention! but defining tracks of Total Science 20 year career include:
