The muses of the dry dry deserts of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have inspired this mix.

After spending the majority of our adventure through Europe and the caucuses as a 2, we raced through the desert heat as a party of 7. We were extremely happy to have the company after realising what an intense and relentless path we’d chosen. It was a welcome relief to turn the speaker on at the end of the day, share songs and put the days exhaustion behind us. 

This mix hopefully reflects the pace we were trying to travel at but at the same time have an exotic feeling of the countries we were travelling through. The first track is an italodisco lost gem that echoes our journey in the heat: ‘camel by camel through the oceans of yellow sand’. Not quite as other-worldly as the other songs in the mix but I couldn’t resist opening with it. 

Hope this transports you to that dusty dry place and time we endured through the desert! Enjoy!

Wax & Gears: Podcast 002

The powerful musical culture of India is overwhelming. You can hear it everywhere you go from tannoys on the street to the hundreds of Bollywood channels on the TV. That said, it's pretty difficult to actually get hold of the names of any of the songs you hear let alone actual copies of the tracks themselves. After plenty of mis-fired shazam attempts, illegible screen shots from the music video end cards and (more often than not) downloads from usb sticks jammed into taxi drivers car radios We've been able to bring together  this mix  of our favourite tracks from India. Wax & Gears: Podcast 003

We met Aatu Van Hinnen (what a name!) in Bulgaria last year. We were both playing at Meadows in the Mountains festival. His set was one of the first we saw that weekend and it was absolutely brilliant. We'd not listened to music of any kind on a decent system and hearing his slo-mo acid sounds so early in the festival set the tone of the weekend to come. We became friends in the months that followed and he remixed one of our early tracks from the road.

To celebrate we've put together this mix featuring his acid rework our our track 'Julien' right in the middle. Enjoy!

Wax & Gears: Podcast 004 - Remix special

Total Bike Forever is an adventure from London to Tokyo by bicycle in search for the golden muse and a quest to make electronic music with the people we met along the way. 

This track features recordings from a group of traditional musicians at the university of Kyushu in Fukuoka (Japan) as well as a choir in Kathmandu (Nepal).

Kyushu

Total Bike Forever is two electronic musicians' journey from London to Tokyo by bicycle in search for the golden muse and a quest to make electronic music inspired by the places they visited and collaborate with local musicians they met along the way.

'Ramnagar' was conceived in India and features sounds from Northern India, sampling flutes, chanting and a traditional Indian wedding. 

The traditional sounds are blended with synthesisers that were carried along for the ride on the duo's bicycles.

Assam was recorded over the space of the last 6 months and features the sitar work of Dar Bertschnieder, a German sitar player we were put in touch with as we travelled through India.

Total Bike Forever is an adventure from London to Tokyo with the goal of writing electronic music along the road with the people encountered on the way. 

Samples from indian cities can be heard throughout the track as well as a Japanese percussionist we met in Tokyo.
