It didn’t start off this way. No, the abominable duet was once a single man’s purpose. Over a year ago, Embracing Abomination was merely an on-the-side solo project for Brandon to express himself “without boundaries or creative restraint”. After much deliberation, Brandon looked toward a drummer/pianist/vocalist he had worked with in several previous bands and was also good friends with. When asked about the matter, Brandon noted: “I initially wanted to keep the duties to myself to limit the conflicts that come along with, you know, scheduling the writing of a record, practices, studio time, and all that other business. When you involve more and more people in a project, all of those things can become complicated; especially when the project isn’t at the point of being a full time job for everyone involved. But I soon discovered that I didn’t want to write and record an album by myself if the quality of the instrumentation was going to suffer. I am just one man, and that’s a huge undertaking. I’m pretty comfortable with where I stand musically whether it’s guitar or drums or whatever, but having someone to bounce ideas off and discuss with can help immensely. In the end, it’s all about the finished product. When I realized that I needed to have Alex a part of things, the vision became clear. We write extremely well together. Either he’s pushing me to the creative and technical limit, or visa-versa. As much as I do, he has a lot of interesting ideas up his sleeve. We are both writing songs and have our visions, then we have each other to help bring each vision to life. On top of that, we have become the best of friends over the last few years, and the connection really shows in the music. Most importantly, we both have the same goals. That being said, neither of us are trying to fit ourselves into a specific genre. I think that just makes a person want to break free of the boundaries they’ve made for themselves. Even more than that, we want to keep our diversity because it’s what we’ve always been about. I have found that fans don’t always appreciate a band to change in styles; which always struck me as a very odd thing. Human beings are destined to change all the time... That is one thing I never understood. If Alex and I are both pissed off, for whatever reason that might be (and we get together to write), we are definitely going to write something angry ‘til the point where we are both satisfied. If we’re down in the dumps, that’s how the music will turn out. It doesn’t matter what style of music it is, all that matters is that the music reflects what that song means to us. We’re hoping we can have a song under the name Embracing Abomination that will speak for nearly any emotion you could come across in your day to day living. We have one song that is almost entirely made up of the things you say or write down in anger, and when you look back at them in retrospect you frighten yourself. We tried to capture that “blackout” moment that almost everyone will experience sometime in their lives. We have one piece that has nearly no lyrics at all because we didn’t even know how we felt while writing it, so that’s what we wanted the song to represent. We are extremely excited to immerse ourselves in whatever we have to in order to bring those feelings out. That’s being dedicated to your art, and that is what we are.”

It wasn’t long after Alex had eagerly accepted to begin his contribution to the group did things start taking off. In just short of a year, Embracing Abomination collectively ended up writing over 15 original songs. Each unique in their own way, and each member contributing every ounce of creativity they possess. The twosome is currently in the studio working very hard to deliver to you the most dynamic and powerful music either of them have ever been a part of.
