Echo is a story of loss, but it also represents serious growth - it's the first To the Tide song to feature my vocals.

This song is special. For the first time, I feel I've managed to capture all of myself in a piece of music. There's guitar (my roots), vocals (a new challenge), and honestly the spiciest sound design I've ever done

"Syncopated" is about metamorphosis, and how strange and disorienting change can be. The rhythms are off-grid and melodies are syncopated, with the most obvious example being the vocals which say "I'm out of sync", but "sync" lands on the first beat, rather than the last

Defence of the Heart may be a familiar story to those who've experienced loss. When we get hurt badly enough, we may be willing to sacrifice any future hope at joy in order to make sure we never feel that pain again. When apathy takes over, introspection and vulnerability are forgotten.

Building armour around your heart is effective, but it blocks both ways.

An exploration of vocals as an instrument, "Aphasia" is a vocal-focused song where none of the lyrics are discernible, and is named after the medical term for the inability to understand speech. Mangled vocal chops carry the song, while more vocal samples and a vocal synth support. The result is a disorienting feeling - almost as if you suddenly found yourself in a foreign country.

Amazon//Sahara is the first of four two-song EPs I'll be releasing over the coming months. 

I have a bit of an obsession with both duality and dichotomy, which lead me to create songs in pairs. Each song represents something that may seem opposite at first, when really they're just two sides of the same coin. Before these songs were written, I chose both the name and artwork, and my goal was to match the music to them using no words. As such, “Amazon” is a very lush track, a stark contrast to it's dry, minimalistic sister “Sahara”. Hope you guys enjoy!
