Looping Back marks the fourth EP from Salut Oscar — a 4-track journey released via FT LOH Records, blending groovy vibes with a sleek, minimalist touch.

Óyeme’s latest single ‘Airglow’, is a head-nod to purist minimal techno, dub and progressive with semi-abstract arped synth lead, punchy bass and machine funk percussion. This spans the spectrum of sounds without leaning too heavily on any particular influences; lending it an air of authenticity that many of us will appreciate.

For the more analytical minded of us, it ticks the box with suitably subtle call and response, as well as a technically solid mix down. For the more emotional of us, the melodies and narrative are the focal point.

The effectiveness comes from the evaluation of the chord/pad interplay as the main focus, as well as the noticeable step away from the popular ultra-swung grooves prevalent in deeper house and techno at present. It does all this, while still sounding current and familiar enough to feel at home in a lot of our record collections.
