Tottie on DUBLAB Radio- Across The Pond w/ System Olympia (2.24.21)

REFLECTOR is a series of electronic music that aims at building bridges between Spanish and American musicians. Each of the three chapters presents a double music session by DJs from Spain and another from the United States. Both of the sessions are played by DJs who run a show on Dublab radio, a station based in Los Angeles and Barcelona that has become a benchmark of electronic music on both sides of the ocean. Each chapter explores a specific area of the local panorama, highlighting the reflections between both scenes and the value of the universal language of electronic music.

REFLECTOR #2 heads to El Cid –one of SOS’s favorite LA spots to dance to good music, regularly attending “A Club Called Rhonda” and Dave P’s “Making Time” parties which transform this traditional flamenco dancing and dining club to a delicious late night party. On the Barcelona side and very close to the Paral.lel street, old cradle of Barcelona’s bohemia, LAUT, where Lucient is a resident, is an avant-garde club designed for a reduced audience with a very careful selection of local and international DJ’s and equipped with a high-quality sound system.

SOS Music cofounders Tottie & Maddy Maia return to dublab this month taking over Across The Pond. The label and collective have their 2nd release SOS Music Vol 2 out on November 12th. This release features 7 international artists who are creating incredible music, one of them being South Korean producer and DJ Closet Yi who’s single Sweat Sonic just came out on the compilation. Debuting on dublab for the first time, the last hr of the show features an exclusive mix from Closet Yi who has received acclaim as Resident Advisor’s Mix of The Day for her energetic Feel My Bicep podcast, and crafted mixes for platforms like Crack Magazine, Circo Loco, Daisychain, DJ Mag’s Fresh Kicks series and many others, as well as guesting on radio stations like NTS Radio and Worldwide FM.

LA based record label SOS Music are back with their first show of 2022. Label co-founders Maddy Maia & Tottie invite Brooklyn-based DJ Rose Kourts who played an incredible set at Goodroom with them back in December, her dynamic sets encourage movement, connection, emotion and release on the dancefloor and airwaves alike. A local mainstay and rising star in New York, she is known for the infectious energy she brings to the booth as well as her selections of curveball bangers, acid crunchers, smooth groovers, and resonant sounds across multiple genres.

Rose Kourts is a co-founder and resident of Sweet Kicks, a community-focused dance party straddling house and rave for folks who love music out loud. In addition to Sweet Kicks, she is also a co-founder and resident of In Bloom, a warm and lush party celebrating femme power and the joy of blooming forth on a pulsing dance floor. Rose Kourts is also the mastermind behind a NOW compilation-inspired party of strictly feel-good music that brings unpretentious, nostalgic favorites to the dance floor.

Rose Kourts' bookings in NYC include appearances at Nowadays, Bossa Nova Civic Club, Knockdown Center, Elsewhere, Good Room, Jupiter Disco, Mood Ring, and Black Flamingo. London Based DJ & producer Amaliah has emerged amongst her local scene as one to watch. Her sets are bouncy, vibrant, and flick between varying genres of UK dance music. Expect anything from disco to techno; deep house to percussive UKG and everything in between. She also runs her own label Borne Fruits which has some promising things lined up for this year. Since her debut EP, future plans include a compilation with new and exciting London talent and another EP towards the latter half of ’22. Having had a successful 2021, this year proves to see her journey go onwards and upwards by returning to staple London clubs such as fabric, The Pickle Factory and Corsica Studios, as well as an impressive list of festivals such as We Out Here, Gala, Waterworks and Eastern Electrics. Cherry is a queer/trans DJ, producer and artist based in Los Angeles, whose high energy, dance-centric sets seek to bridge sounds and communities. Drawing from their diverse upbringing in Los Angeles, Cherry curates an eclectic multicultural sound to share the healing power of music through movement on the dance floor–and of course, to bring the party and fun. She is a resident of the queer underground party Pegasus and her new party Incalls Only, a dance party to highlight the trans talent in LA and elsewhere. The first party is on March 30 at Grandmaster Recorders for Trans Day of Visibility.
