It’s hard to put into words just how special this Mexican producer and DJ is both as a gifted creator and a truly cherished friend, in a country overflowing with talent.

We’ve known him since his very first works, and not only do we love each one, but we’ve always found his music to be deeply original and full of soul.
(And yes, we have to say it: Kevin is also a motorbike champion in Mexico and we think that’s absolutely amazing)

Drawing inspiration from ancient Mayan cultures and their sounds, Niño Amarillo delivers a powerful, unique creation, a track we love deeply and are thrilled to now share with the world.

'Okoa' influenced by Cristobal Tapia de Veers White Lotus soundtrack and 1950s Exotica music is the curious ferocity deep inside you that launches any wonderous odyssey. The thirst for uncovering the unfamiliar knows it can be satisfied by the call of nature's seducing sounds. Creeping through the wild, you are aware that you are not alone, no matter what your eyes may tell you. Around every corner, under and up above, interesting companions await you. The danger is present throughout, but you thrive in the thick of it.  

Amid adventure, connection blossoms in strange places. 'Aldeia' slithers in like a snake ready to coil around your body but means no harm- not yet. If you are brave enough to saunter in with such confidence then some fun is to be had first. Impish chords play with soft drumming that lures you in, and hypnotic notes put you in a trance. There is little room for escape, but ask yourself, do you want to? 'Aldeia' has a magnetizing Latin influence that courses through the track like passion through your veins and makes you one with the fierce jungle around you.

The time has come to leave your latest connections and continue down the path of discovery. There is a secret that this jungle holds and it wants to entrap you before you have the chance to discover it. 'Moviola' which is a track that's heavily influenced by Gustavo Santaolalla, leads you into a quaint village far from the realities of your world. You are a foreigner in this land, and the choice to enter is daunting. They are suspect of this new character and feel out whether or not you are a real threat to it. The language barrier is a limitation hard to surpass, but you read each other instead. A bond manifests through a small window of familiarity as it's present throughout the music. The human connection proves to be a powerful entity, and it allows you the opportunity to become immersed in their culture and form new ideas of family.

Mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" - one of the most famous mantras in Mahayana Buddhism, especially characteristic of Tibetan Buddhism, is the six-syllable mantra of the bodhisattva of compassion Avalokiteshvara. The mantra is especially associated with Shadakshari (Lord of the Six Syllables), the incarnation of Avalokiteshvara, and has a deep sacred meaning.

This mantra has many meanings. All of them come down to explaining the meaning of the totality of sacred sounds of its constituent syllables. The mantra itself is rarely interpreted in the sense due to its literal translation: "Oh, the pearl that shines in the lotus flower!"

In particular, the 14th Dalai Lama explains that the mantra represents the purity of the body, speech and mind of the Buddha. The second word (མ་ཎི། - "jewel") corresponds to bodhichitta - the desire for awakening, compassion and love. The third word (པ་དྨེ། - "lotus flower") refers to wisdom. The fourth word (ཧཱུྃ།) personifies the indivisibility of practice (method) and wisdom.

This mantra has its own name, namely “Six-syllable”, which is traditionally explained [by whom?] by the ability of the six syllables of the mantra to save living beings from birth in the six vales of samsara (hellish worlds, the world of hungry ghosts, the world of animals, the world of people, the world of demigods, the world of the gods), while each syllable symbolizes a certain world.

The practice of reading the "Six-syllable" in order to liberate living beings is reflected, in particular, in the Tibetan practice of reciting dharani "The practice of heavenly activity of Avalokiteshvara": OM - removes pride and conceit, MA - removes jealousy and envy, NI - removes attachment and selfish desires, PAD - dispels ignorance and confusion, ME - dissolves greed and greed, HUM - transforms hatred and anger.

Another, much more common colloquial designation for this mantra is Mani, by which name it is commonly known and used by Tibetan and Mongolian Buddhists.

There is also a version that claims that reading the mantra gives prosperity, abundance and money, where Om means Brahma, who is beyond everything unmanifested, Mani is a gem or crystal, Padme is a lotus, Hum is the heart.

Every year Sabo’s label @Solselectas drops its highly anticipated Summer Sol compilation and our personal favorite is one of those feel good tunes for this summer by the wicked Swiss Duo @Okuma-sounds. 

It hits stores on the 19th of June which is the day of the summer solstice, as the EP’s concept is a celebration of world culture, as regardless of skin colour, gender or social background, Sol Selectas motto, is that we are all equal under the light on the sun.

This year’s compilation features music from over twenty different countries and lyrics in many different languages produced by a variety of wonderful talented artists. 

Covering a range of tempos, the tracks vary in style from melodic deep house to meditative electronica, all with rich percussive textures and enchanting melodies.
