go nogo – And The Devil Too


The sound of revelation according to go nogo doesn't need no fallen angel or some beast to  ravage the world. What sounds much like Aleister Crowleys  dark satanic verses unveils itself as a brooding Indie Dance tune that will eventually turn into an uplifting chorus. Catchy as it may seem, The Devil Too raises some philosophical questions and ponders over the laws of nature. Although again different in texture, the key elements of go nogo are full in effect: delayed rythm guitars, chords from an electric bass, trance-like synth-patterns and a singer who’s trading tonality for attitude.   

There are three remixes and a cover version, all different in approach, all in a different mood, but altogether hellish stuff. Klangschwester drops an eerie lullaby flavor with her very own interpretation of the song. The lady from "da oben" (aka „Northern Germany“) tinkers about with sounds which seem to play from some long-forgotten musical box.  Combined with her voice of innocence and bliss, she crafts a morbid but beautiful tale. The first remix goes by the name of David Bucka who has erased almost all of the verse in favor of a solid House tune. It’s is still close to the original but clarified by a steady bass-line concept and repetitive elements which you need in a club context. Hard to believe, but Copycat takes the sinister verse lines to the beach of Rimini. It’s kind of ironic, but what reminds of Righeira’s „Vamos a la playa“ is equally disturbing, for the duo’s lyrics where concerned with atom bombs exploding on the beach. Away from Italo Disco, Dead Sea Captains finally deliver the off kilter, most de(re-)anged type of remix. It flirts with WARP stylistics and eerie IDM methods, chopping a big(-er) Beat to shreds.

This is The future of Christians living in the new “Islamic States” — submit or be executed.

IS fighters took control of Mosul and swathes of north and west Iraq in a sweeping offensive that began last month. Their leader has since then declared a “caliphate” straddling Iraq and Syria.

The group claims its goal is to return the lands they conquer to a state approximating that of early Islam, in which Jews and Christians who did not convert had to pay a “jizya” tribute to their Muslim rulers.

“From one old woman they took $15,000 (11,100 euros). She asked for just $100 of it so she could reach Dohuk. They told her that these are the funds of the Islamic State, and we cannot give it to you,” Fadi said.

Robbed of their cars and cash, many Christians were forced to walk to safety.

Some of Mosul’s Christians might be able to afford to pay the jizya, but they appear unwilling to take their chances living under the thumb of rulers notorious for executing and crucifying their opponents.
