Ute.Rec and Amniote Editions have teamed up for a collaborative release kickstarting the opening of Europe after a winter of heavy lockdown. An uplifting fundraiser compilation with 17 artists from both labels spanning moody landscapes and neo-trance.

The proceeds will be donated to The Red Van, a volunteer-run NGO working with harm reduction and human rights for street based sex workers in Copenhagen.

Maruwa - Liquid Night

A nearly 3-hour set that I played on Saturday April 8 at a private event in Ottawa, Canada at the invitation of Clone604. 

I was due to play for two hours and then with one DJ being indisposed that was bumped up to two and a half hours - and then during the party the host asked if I would keep playing a bit longer.

It was a really fun event, small and intimate with a fantastic vibe on the part of the dancers who were really into the Goa sound - a rarity anywhere in Canada these days. 

I hope you enjoy the set featuring a lot of masterpieces released primarily between 1994 and 1996, with a couple from '97 and one from '98:

I wondered if I could make a song from a random sequence. This is the result. Everything was taken care of by the modular. Pure random awesomeness. I added the drums and edited the song later. Hope you enjoy.

Patch details: bass is coming from Mutable Instruments Plaits, then through the Doepfer Wasp filter. The rest is Noise Engineering BIA through a WMD C4RBN filter. Everything is mixed together and sent to the Noise Engineering Electus Versio for some ambiance. The random sequence is coming from the Intellijel Metropolis.

Branches

I always felt the Metropolis was great for creating EBM melodies. Here's a simple and slowly evolving patch made mostly from MI Plaits (lead) and NE BIA (groove). Percussion, vocal samples and arrangement were added later on Ableton.

Patching details: Metropolis is sequencing MI Plaits; the BIA is triggered by the Varigate 4+ and modulated by the Voltage Block; the Voltage Block is also modulating the filter frequency on the Wasp; the Happy Nerding 3xMIA is attenuating the modulation while the 3xVCA is taking care of sidechaining the lead to the kick, attenuating and mixing the rest. Towards the end of the track there’s a lead sound made from NE BIA (spacy toms) and IME Piston Honda mk3.

Tourment EP

My set for the Apsara Mini Online Festival on August 16, 2020. I had been due to play at the festival in Romania but as with all other events it was canceled. This set is very different from what I would have played at the festival - these are all released tracks (for my super-rare stuff, you need to hear me in person) - but these are all killers, and this set features a number that I haven't played in a very long time.
