When Marino Canal came up with an unofficial remix of David O’Dowda's 'The World Retreats‘, David instantly loved it and agreed to an official release. The two of them got to know each other and started to work on music together resulting in this 2-track EP, a beautiful merger between different realms of music.

'Half Life' is the perfect display of how an almost acoustic song can be successfully combined with a 4x4 beat. The piano chord and David’s soft but significant voice steadily builds up tension which afterwards gets released through the driving synergy of kick and bass. The track never becomes too busy, what makes every carefully chosen sound even more prominent and important. A beautiful song to listen and to dance to. 

The second half of this release follows the more classical Marino Canal approach of a dance track. 'Reach' takes its time do develop while the interaction between David’s vocals, the arp and finally the celestial pad-chords soak you into this epic journey. 

All in all two carefully true-to-detail crafted pieces of music which gladly found their home on Siamese.

Some times the music just magically comes out, and that is the case here with "Syria" by new Sol*Selectas artist Unders from Amsterdam. After several successful tunes above the 120 BPM mark on labels like Sincopat and Groove On, "Syria" was Unders' first attempt at slower grooves, and an accidental experiment that just "fell into place, and was automatic magic". Syria's current political unrest is all over the news and social media, and the story being painted is difficult to watch. Driven to create a song which goes against all the negative publicity, Unders says "between all the negativity, the more i looked into the situation, the country, its people and its culture, the more this track reminded me of so much beauty the media doesn’t portray." The song itself a slow minimal trip with chopped up guitar licks, a gorgeous flute sample that takes the listener to far off desert lands, and features the vocals of Veerle. Satori is yet another up and coming producer from the Netherlands, gaining instant recognition sharing the stage and studio with Acid Pauli, and producing incredible tunes utilizing live instruments played by himself, and tastefully incorporating these with electronic elements. His remix preserves the original message of "Syria" lowering the BPM to an even more hypnotic 104 BPMs. Satori adds middle eastern strings and chords, swapping out the original vocal for a more Saharan inspired call, and even plays delicately with some acid sounds furthering the listeners journey. 
Both songs are meant to invoke peaceful images of Syria, and conjure up positive intention on the dance floor. Sol*Selectas is very excited to present the debut song "Syria" from Unders, and the amazing remix by Satori, two artists from the Netherlands you would do well to keep your eyes and ears open to in 2016.

The sophisticated raciness of Dole & Kom is always a fascinating thing to witness. Their title ‘Samoja’ means serious business in terms of beats, bass and the resulting danceability. The playful instrumentations and afro vocal part of this title create a very musical counterpart. ‘Juniper’, their streamlined second track on this EP, follows a trajectory that clearly aims at a good time on the dancefloor while its mighty hypnotic potential remains hovering in the background like an otherworldly presence. Variation is always good and that's why there's two remixes, as well: Mollono.Bass with an energetic departure and Elfenberg with a tribalistic flow experience.

The Swedish Duo https://soundcloud.com/elfenberg has litterally been on fire the last 12 months with top quality deep house releases on Stil Vor Talent, Lump and Moblack.

Citar-infused Cuzco is not an exception. This mystic desert house cut with the Elfenberg characteristic ethnic sound and a knee deep bass will for sure be played at this summer's Burning man, Nowhere and Borderland festivals. Out on Kamai Music on friday.

It's time for Mynox and Vander to join forces again on their 'Petite Fleur' EP. Produced mostly during Vander's visits to Istanbul in 2019, 'Petite Fleur' and 'Cienlunares' explore dreamy and organic soundscapes. Both tracks seamlessly merge Vander's distinct grooves with the dreamy guitars of Mynox.

'Petite Fleur' blends deep and tribal grooves with atmospheric guitar sounds, travelling all around the sound field. The moog bassline growls gently underneath, supporting the rich harmonies with its soothing tone. We find ourselves floating in an ever-changing soundscape complemented by fluffy melodies.

'Cienlunares' ventures subtly into flamenco territory, making use of hopping rhythms that evoke the relentless energy of latin music. The longing melody of the guitar dances over a deep bassline and catchy percussions.

Staying true to his delicate melodic touch, Amsterdam-based producer Joep Mencke delivers a gorgeous cinematic rendition of 'Petite Fleur'. With this remix. The orchestration is moving and bright throughout the piece, showcasing Joep's sound design abilities.

Mexican-duo The Soul Brothers make their first appearance on Art Vibes with a minimalistic and dancefloor friendly rework of 'Cienlunares'.
