About the EP : 

Our 29th Chapter showcases the versatile talents of British artist JOBE with the heavy-hitting Changes EP.
JOBE - previously responsible for one of Chapter 24’s biggest-selling tracks ‘Aurora’ - has released as widely as Connaisseur and Akbal Music. On this occasion, he serves up a balanced four-tracker combining cosmic, afro and techno influences.
Rafari is the opener. Marked by characterful sound design and swirling disembodied tribal voices creating a strong sense of disorientation, the track is held together by the hefty and assured drive of the main groove.

Anomaly showcases a more considered side to JOBE’s production and marks a shift of emphasis to harmony and composition, as layers of synths swell skywards before their satisfying return to earth.
Meanwhile, Boma is a return to the tense, cosmic afro drive that is bound to set dancefloors aflame, before title track Changes rounds things off with a powerful slab of progressive techno.

Stirring within the depths of Pigalle, a battery of chords punctuate the heated techno ambience while a dirty low end growls under a highly charged bed of thick percussion. Pushing onward and upward Pigalle drives a sinister path through a field of late night dancefloor prowess, then creates a scene turning the heat up to a boil and letting loose when the time is right. Next the duo calls on the talented Turkish producer Sezer Uysal for another round with Dominate. Fitting is the title as the track unfurls heaps of energy with its powerful bassline and haunting vocal ambience. The buildup of its rhythmic synths as they dart between the beats and squawk along hard edge of the bassline is irresistible, creating a fever of motion and a satisfying portion of sinister vibes. About the EP :

ATLANT begins 2018 full of inspiration and anticipation by bringing you our first extended player in the form of ‘Mikial’ with sounds, shapes and textures across seven movements from The Antelope.
The gentle soothing hypnotic chimes of atmospheric opener ‘Gullwing’ and title track ‘Mikial’ use delicate yet crisp percussion against a distant background voices, drawing you into The Antelope’s world.
The deep esoteric vibe of ‘Floatplane’ works in contrast to the darker intensity of ‘Sleepchamber’ and ‘Eland’ which both add more of a club dimension. The music here will reward the listener through repeated plays and work just as much at home, with ‘Blackmore Vale’ the perfect soundtrack for a beautiful misty early morning.
Uplifting and forward thinking closer ‘Five Point Dreams’ fuses sublime floating synth layers and percussive dynamics to leave you wanting more.
This is a release we are very proud of. Mikial reflects the rich diversity of ATLANT’s sound and encompass the vision of label head BOg who tested elements on the road in Argentina late December.

Daniele Di Martino is known in the electronic music scene for his impelling sound. This shows in his work as a DJ and as a producer with releases for labels such as Stil vorTalent or Light My Fire. In these four productions, he glamorously combines his love of techno and deep house sounds.

‘Temper’ builds up slowly as an opener with organic drums. ‘Koos’ bribes the listener with energetic synthesizer influences. Next, ‘Day One’ shines with energetic chords. Afterwards ‘Marbles’ welcomes the listener with a deep bass and melodic elements. Especially the breaks and consistent drums give the EP a clear rhythmic aura and invite the listener directly onto the dancefloor.

Belgium’s OGASM label continues to carve out a niche for itself with its third EP. This one again comes from the label boss PROPE, with remixes from a smart selections of names including Dusty Kid, Matchy & Bott and Seb Legrand.

Thierry Botteman and Pierre Dozin are PROPE. Between them they are veterans of the 90s dance scene who have worked with major labels like Universal as well as being ghost producers for everyone from Royksopp to Groove Armada. They’ve made drum & bass and trip hop, played live shows all over the world with names such as Robert Glasper and Fela’s Egypt80 and so have vast reserves of musical understanding on which to draw on for this new project, which “merges subtle stellar ambiance and vibes, deep harmonies, and heavy effective drops.”

Their lead track here is ‘Excite’, an intense bit of drone-heavy techno that gets you in a trance. The hunched drums are metallic in texture, the long synths take you down the rabbit hole and the closely stacked claps power things along as you slowly lose your mind. A ‘deep mix’ version gives more height and life to the drums, switching it to more of a house vibe, with stellar synths darting about up top.

Italian artist, Isolade label boss and long time underground figure Dusty Kid is the first to remix. His innovative version is a melodic affair that reaches out into the cosmos and will get hands in the air as it slowly unfolds.

Next up are Match & Bott who are no strangers to big hits. The Mainz pair have crafted plenty of them before now on labels like Hive Audio, Moonbootique and Stil Vor Talent, and here they have done so again with a moody, deep version that zones you out with hi hats and gets you moving with forceful drums.

Last of all, 1605 and Yorube Grooves techno specialist Seb Legrand keeps up the intensity with a big version filled with long, meandering synths and little fx and details. It’s another groove driven roller to lock in the whole floor.

With this release, both PROPE and OGASM prove they are on the rise.
