After his critically acclaimed debut album, Djrum and 2nd Drop are proud to present a limited edition 10” vinyl release of two amazing reworks. 

West London’s Onoe Caponoe is one of the most exciting MCs in the UK right now, having pinged up on 2nd Drop’s radar after dropping two blazing albums on Audio Doughnuts in the past couple of years. Djrum has been featuring Onoe’s Milkyway 1311 in his sets on a regular basis, and this naturally led to him taking the tools to it and giving it a tweak in wonderful Djrum style. It’s hip hop, but not as we know it, as Djrum installs a drum pattern that sounds like a cascading waterfall and his trademark use of strings which underpin Onoe’s funkadelic vocals perfectly. This is a great introduction to some forthcoming collaborations between these two on 2nd Drop. Watch this space!

Royce Wood Junior, known for his work with Jamie Woon and Stac among others, is an uber talented multi-instrumentalist and all round nice guy. The original has yet to be released (looking like 2014), so this version will only be available on vinyl for the foreseeable future. Djrum has transformed the track into a brooding masterpiece which emphasises the heartfelt lament of Royce’s vocal to maximum effect. A classic in the making.

Acutely critical wax — Precisely zero digital trax. Approximately 135bpm.

This mix was created during a period of my life marked by many changes and transformations. My art and passion evolved along with them. When I moved to a new city for a few months, I found fresh momentum and a more diverse inspiration.

Through this hour-long musical story, I wanted to pay tribute to artists with deeply personal sounds and to tracks that left a strong impression on me.

I am thinking in particular of XXX by LOUISE, taken from her EP Sensitivity to Suicide, which is short, intense, and fully realized. Another highlight is the wonderful Endless Reverie by the Paris-based producer MZA. For the first time in her new EP, she explores compositions that are less club-oriented and more experimental, shifting in both BPM and atmosphere compared to her usual productions.

I am especially proud of having crafted a transition between the tracks by LOUISE, Margari’s Kid, and San Wakeup. It is a powerful blend of striking melodies, controversial breakcore, and the ethereal voice of Madame Rêve.

I also included a personal nod to my parents by featuring two remixed tracks, one by Sting and the other by Sade.

In the end, the set closes on a more ambient note, which feels true to what resonates most deeply with me. The last track is 月亮 (moon) by Taiwanese-American producer JIALING. Her inspiring story immediately spoke to me, and her experimental EP 家 (jiā), conceived as an autobiographical tribute to her family, moved me profoundly.
