Cody Currie is back with a new song on Toy Tonics. The London born, Berlin based keyboarder, producer, singer, DJ and man of great style is a lead artist of the German label by now. The 22-year-old has released a few EPs that made him one of the probably most talked about newcomers in the new soulful house scene. "The Tom Misch of jazzy house" they called him, and maybe that description could fit. He plays most instruments himself, never uses samples, and the atmospheres he creates are unique.

For his new song, he teamed up one more time with Eliza Rose. The London vocalist, DJ, producer and radio host already was featured on Cody Currie’s last single "Moves". After a couple of well received gigs they did together, jamming live on stage, they decided to do another song. And here it is: Eliza’s sweet voice correspends perfectly with Cody’s chords and warm rolling grooves. The Rhodes piano riff and that funky bassline stay in your head after just one time listening. The two London souls fit so well together. And both are just at the beginning of their carrier. Eliza Rose is going to release her solo debut EP in Spring 2022 and Cody has an album coming up in Winter 2022.

Jazzy House wunderkind Cody Currie releases new single ‚Cash’ on Berlin’s Toy Tonics records. Born in London and based in Berlin, Cody is a man of many talents - an extremely skilled producer, passionate DJ, jazz keyboard player and singer who plays all instruments on his tracks himself and uses no samples. Cody introduces a level and quality of soulful jazz that is rare to find in dance music. With his unique personality and charisma, his fan base has grown rapidly through the 3 EPs he's already released on Toy Tonics and his wild DJ performances which go viral on social media. He's due to release his anticipated debut album on Toy Tonics in autumn 2022, alongside a 40+ dates European tour over the coming months.

The 14 tracker will land via Berlin’s Toy Tonics label and glides from disco to jazz, house and funk and features key collaborations with the likes of Jitwam, Eliza Rose, Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange & his close friends. After having met Mathias  Kapote  Modica, creative mind behind Germany’s well respected Toy Tonics label three years ago, East London born Cody Currie understood Kapote and his international TT Crew have the perfect understanding for his talents and share the same visions and so Cody joined the TT crew and released three EPs with the German label. Now finally he steps up to present his highly anticipated debut album ‘Lucas’. The 14 track LP is set for release 21 October 2022, with a string of pre-singles to drop until then. The roots of Cody’s artistry runs deep, hailing from Leytonstone in East London by his father a fashion designer and his Spanish mother a music writer, it was inevitable that Cody would follow suit in the world of creativity. Curries keen ear and penchant for retro disco licks, chopped keys, and broken beats have landed him also with 1 off releases on other notable labels like Razor-N-Tape, Dan Shake’s Shake Records. The past few years Cody found himself in the midst of a fresh and unique buzz, taking over Europe, predominantly in Berlin and London, as he bridges the gap between jazz and house music with his energetic DJ sets, talented instrumental skills and effortless swag. Playing the big Toy Tonics Jam happening all over Europe and similar to other artists on the TT label‘connecting the dots’ between live and electronic music has garnered Cody a range of support in the press and radio world with fans including Pete Tong, Rolling Stone, Jamz Supernova, Mixmag and Gilles Peterson, with some journalists describing him as "The Tom Misch of jazzy house". This debut album, like his EPs, represents the new essence of jazz burgeoning out of London’s youth scene of today. Cody doesn't use any samples, only live instruments, vocals and great chord combinations, a nod towards his music school studies in London before moving over to Berlin. Like most of the other artists on Toy Tonics and similar to Kapote himself, Cody comes from playing jazz piano and playing in bands and combines this real musician’s attitude and knowledge with his skills as an electronic producer and extremely talented DJ/selector. This combination of background and skills create that unique sound that Cody (and many Toy Tonics artists) have. On Lucas, Cody defines his work by enjoying the collaborative process with other talented artists such as Eliza Rose and Ziggy(Freedom Zeitgeist Energy Exchange), as well as some of Cody’s close personal friends like Jitwam, Ally McMahon, Andreas Konand more. Currie comments on the album, saying:“Lucas LP is a collection of tracks which I've either done myself around the world recording in different places, or collaborating with my friends. The music reflects my enjoyment of the musical process, and I'd say it’s inspired a lot by George Duke and Frank Zappa, the disco and funkier stuff from the 70s and 80s. Some tracks are quite deep and introspective, whilst other ones are more fun and silly, like ‘That Stick’. Ultimately, the album focuses on artists from

@Crackazat has already had an incredible year with the release of his stunning album Evergreen on Freerange which is easily one of the albums of the year so far. Now he is back on @heistrecordings following up his stand-out Alfa EP from last year for them.

The new EP, Demucha lands with three scintillating tracks taking his jazz infused house sound and delivering perfectly for the dancefloor.

Our premier from the EP today is Sarge a delightful house track with it's roots in the 90's courtesy of it's simple but addictive bassline and edgy drums. As always where Crackazat stands out is his incredible work on the keys whether that is adding euphoric textures or classy keys or even enigmatic energy packed atmospherics.

What do you do when you’ve just released an amazing album and your last EP on Heist was one of the label’s best selling records in recent years? This is the ‘question’ Crackazat had to answer when writing his new EP for Heist.  His solution was to deliver something even more amazing!  When Crackazat released his ‘Alfa’ EP early 2021, we knew it was going to be a great record. It had everything we’ve come to expect and love from him; a great balance between creative musicality and downright beef for the club. Fast forward a year and a half and here we are, super happy to release his new ‘Demucha EP’.

‘Demucha’ starts with the jazzy energy of a double bass, brushed percussion, and vocal chops. You can feel the speed working through every part of the song, which is even more evident when the main key comes in.  A typical Crackazat-esque finger-twirling loop brings the track to its top speed where horn stabs add to the overall excitement. ‘Sarge’ takes a more mellow approach, Crackazat navigates the idea of timelessness with dreamy keys, strings and a dubby bass. A mid track crackly arpeggio and faraway voices add to the contemplative vibe to great effect.  ‘We know’ stays away from Crackazat’s renowned skippy beats and instead, makes way for a driving staccato stomp. Rough key stabs along with the talented multi-instrumentalist’s own faraway vocals make for a mesmerizing cut that takes you on a sonic journey that works as well on the dancefloor as in any other space.
