Introducing a fantastic new release from Rigopolar and Disto Disco - Spaced Out EP. This 5 track collaboration includes two brand new original tracks, as well as three remixes from stellar artists: Phunkadelica, Cabizbajo & Colossio, and Childs. The EP will release on Rigopolar's own label, Tour De Infinite. 

Rigopolar a.k.a Manuel Castaneda is a Miami based DJ and producer originally from Mexico. He has released previously on Duro, Nazca and most recently on his very own Tour De Infinite. Through a mixture of italo disco and techno, Rigopolar has crafted his expansive sonic universe. His music is inquisitive, and challenges the listener to dive deep and ask big questions along with him. Where do we come from? Where are we going? 

In Spaced Out EP he joins forces with DJ duo Disto Disco. These Mexican party starters know disco inside and out. Their club night Discoteca Seducción has taken them across Mexico and beyond, where they showcase the finest selections of disco, dark disco, italo and indie dance. 

The EP begins with Untitiled, a masterful study on the fundamentals of disco. This 8 minute epic track stretches time - stripped back with a focus on perfecting the core elements of irresistible grooves. Expertly crafted instrumentation which give the track a live, organic feel. A groove that grows on you as it repeats, each element digging a little deeper and hooking you a little more until you’re on the ride with them. 

Moving into title track Spaced Out, which has more of an 80s feel. Space age post-disco with an acid flavour. Like Untitled, Spaced Out has the kind of chord progressions that make you double take. Beautifully crafted harmonies in the synths which transport us to this cosmic space - we're Spaced Out as the name suggests. Its compelling bassline repeats throughout, inviting us in and leaving us in a constant state of suspense. 

The EP is an impressive exploration through indie dance and disco variations, and is certainly not to be missed! Spaced Out EP will release 26th of February, 2024 via Tour De Infinite on all digital and streaming platforms.

Here comes the second Toy Tonics EP by Joel Holmes & Cody Currie. 

The new Berlin based duo that works on a fresh musical style that combines Jazz, broken beats, Soul and NY House.
Joel, the American jazz pianist, is a former member of Roy Hargrove’s Grammy winning Jazz-Hop band and member of Carl Craig’s synthesizer ensemble. Joel is living in Berlin now, where he is involved in the new vibrant Neo-Jazz scene. (Yes! Berlin used to be a Techno city, but it’s becoming a Jazz town now!)

In Berlin Joel throws monthly jam sessions (the Urban Base Jam) where the creme de la creme of Berlins ex-pad jazz musicians meets up. Crazy things can happen here. Like when Erykah Badu played Berlin in 2019 and her complete band came to jam at Joel’s session after their gig.

Joel teamed up with Cody Currie: 24 year old London born talent, who already made waves in the house scene. Cody is known as a stylized producer, with a unique recognisable sound. Much of his craft was homed in studying a bachelors in music in London. His most known work by now might be a jazzy reinvention of ‘Devils Shoestring’ with over half a million plays on SC and YT. With his new works Cody is coming away from sampling, working only with live instrumentation.

Joel & Cody both live in Berlin now where they met Toy Tonics head honcho Mathias „Kapote“ Modica. And when they met there was a vibe instantly. All three have their roots in jazz music and share similar ideas about how dance-music should evolve in 2020.

For those keeping watch, Melbourne-based producer Cassettes for Kids has steadily been making a name for himself in the underground house scene the past couple of years. Having already released records on labels such as Feedasoul, Moment Cinetique, and Haws, the young artist has decided to make his debut on Swedish imprint Honey Butter Records with a new 4-track EP!

Titled "Rest/Relief," this record exemplifies the ethos of the Cassettes for Kids project itself - which often sees the DJ combining unadulterated house with soulful bits and rhythms that make his sound both accessible and remarkably lethal on the dancefloor. Take the lead track for instance. From the jump, Cassettes for Kids sets the tone with a hard-hitting assortment of hi-hats and breaks. However, to make the intensity slightly more palatable, he masterfully loops in a soothing array of R&B vocals and jazz-laden melodies to balance things out. This gives his listeners something to hold onto while their bodies become overwhelmed with the insatiable urge to groove. In 'Growing Frustration,' Cassettes for Kids continues to show that he's quite talented at performing this sort of balancing act. Throughout the piece, the producer chooses to combine traditional elements of peak-time house with an angelic array of otherworldly synths that pierce the ear and manage to make a 130 bpm tune sound almost tranquil. Not an easy feat to say the least. 

The B-side of "Rest/Relief" acts as a much-needed respite from the high-energy exuded in its first half. Leading the way is arguably our favorite tune from the EP 'You're Leaving But I'll Still Love You.' Here, we see a different side of Cassettes for Kids - one that is noticeably more sentimental and pop-oriented in its aesthetic. A true love song at the end of the day, there is a lot to like here. From it's sullen, downtrodden synths that resemble the moans of someone with a broken heart, to the mesmerizing vocals in its chorus, 'You're Leaving But I'll Still Love You' is easily the catchiest tune we've heard from Cassettes for Kids yet and something repeat buttons were made for.

If this wasn't enough, Finland's finest Saine rounds out the record with his own rework of Cassettes' tasty, original. Honestly, what more can one want from a release?

PREMIERE: Cassettes For Kids - You're Leaving But I'll Still Love You

The MacLo boys are back on Rhythm Department Records with a cracking 4 track EP entitled ‘Not Here For Palm Trees’. 4 quality house cuts bound to make your heads bop and your knees wobble.

The EP opens with the ever lively ‘Understand’. Clever use of loose drums and shabby chord stabs result in an admirable little house number.

‘Do You Freak It’ incorporates catchy vocals, horn stabs and dancing synth melodies for a fresh take on garage house.

‘E-Mode’ Is inspired by nights in Glastonbury’s NYC Downlow. Jackin’ drums, and soulful vocals make it that perfect secret weapon for late night dark spaces.

‘Wont Let You Get Away’ is the sleaziest MacLo track to date. Bumping raw drums, a sleazy synth line and soaring vocals make the perfect recipe to take down and dirty to a new level.

The EP will be released on 28th August 2020 and available to purchase from our Bandcamp page / stream on all your favourite sites.
