Nathalie Duchene is the new entry on the Toy Tonics rooster. Upcoming DJ and producer talent from Paris with prominent protégées: Yuksek and Boombass of Cassius are the ones who helped her to get introduced to the French scene and to shape the skills as DJ and producer of her own music. Since she came to Paris from Belgium in 2008 at the age of 19 it were these two encouraging her to make music. And by now, after observing the good artists and developing a real obsession (not only) for club music she became a steady member of the new Parisian house scene. She regularly plays in the main Parisian clubs such as the Rex, Silencio and Sacre. And being known for excellent DJ and selector skills able to create deep and colorful musical atmospheres, she also gets often invited to play happenings of brands like Louis Vuitton, Numero Magazine or the off - parties at Cannes Film Festival. 

In fact by now Nathalie has strong connections not only in the growing new French house scene but also to the French movie world. Since living in Paris she wrote a few pieces of music for movies  (and fashion shows) and it looks like there will be more engagements in the future. Nathalie’s music production skills are impressing.

Now, after DJing for a couple of years, spending endless hours in the studio to learn - Nathalie is ready for her own dancefloor EP.  Three sunny electronic tracks, disco, Balearic house vibes that avoid cliches, instead play with atmospheres and vibes that feel familiar and catch you quickly, without being too direct.

It makes total sense to release these on Toy Tonics. Not just because France is one of the countries with the biggest Toy Tonics fanbase, but also because Cassius and Yuksek have always been „heroes“ to the TT crew. It all makes sense. Nathalie Duchene’s first EP „Praia“ is out on march 11th including remixes by Yuksek, Boombass and Carl Chaste.

🗯🗯 Did your approach on creating music change during the pandemic and did it maybe even influence your style? 🗯🗯

It changed a lot tbh. Because of the missing club experiences it shifted more towards softer sounds. On top of that there was a lot more spare time available for spending in the studio. My general taste is always shifting a bit, so i cant tell you if this has something to do with the pandemic :)

🗯🗯 Did you gain something positive from this time with Corona? 🗯🗯

I gained a lot of knowledge about myself and music production during the pandemic. The before mentioned extra spare time made it possible to dive deeper into some topics.

Toy Tonics come up with the LOST TOY TONICS MIXES EP. 
These tracks came out on Toy Tonics as digital releases or bonus tracks over the last years. 
As they had such great feedback, they now come together on a 4 track vinyl. 
Folamour’s remix of french producer Mangabey was one of their biggest stream hits  (4 mio. plays till now on Spotify). Demuja made a whole Toy Tonics EP 3 years ago that pushed his career a lot. "Brissy" was a key track. 
Felipe Gordon made 2 EPs on Toy Tonics, but the "Pontchartrain remix" was released only as a bonus digital remix. And Sano, from Colombia, usually releases on Public Possession. He made a one off EP with Kapote 2 years ago. It was just a digital release back then. So here comes the massive "Sabrosito Tool" on vinyl finally. Sick latin house track!

Belgian duo Chassé keep the acclaimed Black Jukebox series rolling with a 4-track EP that pays homage to classic US house sounds in accomplished style.

'Fake Real' kicks off with sunny abandon, all breezy piano chords and synth sax creating an authentic early-'90s NYC house vibe over plump plucked bass and lazily skipping percussion. Deep pads, bright strings and delicate synth arps bring the atmospheric edge. 

'People Dancing' ups both the chonk and swing factor, getting more jaunty with its live piano chords and lilting rhythm. Hazy, filtered electric piano chords swoon over classic drum hits, the deep and the pumping meeting in perfect harmony.

'Nightlife' takes snatches of classic house vocal and peppers them between melancholic chord samples and dramatic snare hits, and a tense breakdown that exacerbates the subtle qualities of this soulful stomper. A few carefully placed organ notes are all that's needed to draw the most out of the cool bassline funk.

'True Game' rounds off this delicious EP, finding itself somewhere between the classic US house vein and the French touch era, where graceful pads cut against jazzy organ chords, pitched-down vocals, garage snare patterns and seductive bass throbs.

HAUKE FREER - ONE TINY UNIVERSE (STB03)

HAUKE FREER'S latest offering includes two warm and moody original cuts plus an intense, bass heavy MATTHIAS REILING Remix - is that really you, SESSION VICTIM?

While the duo's records usually strike a chord with a somewhat broad audience, Freer's solo output never tries to cater to the House Music masses. In fact, it feels very much tailored to please an acquired taste. 
ONE TINY UNIVERSE is a case in point, built upon a steady but wonky drum groove and a brizzling, retro, sci-fi kind of pad, eventually leading the song into an array of synth melodies that will reward you with discovering new things when listening repeatedly - showing Hauke's ability to subtly combine little bits and pieces into something that effortlessly outgrows the sum of its parts. 
Moving on to the flip, Reiling stripps the title track off it's warmth and beauty and replaces them with a tougher drumset and a pressure heavy UK style bassline. You'll be reintroduced to Freer's synth work eventually, but in a less fairytalish and, well, slightly hostile environment.
MMMMM is the closing cut of the EP, a composition just as bare and raw as it feels soothing and gentle - like.... let's say beans and rice over a campfire on a cold night under the starry sky of a far away tiny universe in the fingernail of some other giant lifeform.

Prins Thomas’s cosmic “Diskomiks" remix of Johannes Klingebiel’s ‘Flight’ is released today (7 October) on Amsterdam's Bloomer Records.

Johannes Klingebiel said: “I’m so happy that one of my idols, the Prins himself, agreed to make a remix for my album. And hoo boy, did he deliver! Adding some groovy bass and synth layers he squeezed every ounce of funk out of the tune’s DNA, creating an amazing cosmic diskomiks out of it.” 

The Prins Thomas remix is the first remix to be released on Johnannes Klingebiel’s acclaimed ‘For Now’ album, out on 18 November, which also includes remixes from Katerina, Benjamin Frohlich, Suricata, and Sekitova. The vinyl of the original ‘For Now’ will also be released later in October and Johannes Klingebiel will play at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) on 22 October at Pllek for the Reflektor Records showcase, alongside Colin Benders, Amy Root, Bunkerface, Sjamsoedin, and Tienson.

Rooted in jazz phrasing, improvisation, and syncopated rhythmics, “So Dreamed Times” blends melancholic piano with triumphant trumpets and deep house energy. Playful, distorted vocals repeat like an autogenic training, turning fragments of a lullaby into a surreal, autobiographical reflection — an embrace of both melancholy and empowerment on the path to brighter days. / This track emerges from my jazz background, where I wanted to explore phrasing, improvisation, and the textures of acoustic instruments. I began with the idea of playing with rhythms and sounds that evoke the atmosphere of a jazzy lullaby, then placed them within a deep, powerful house landscape. Playful distorted vocals weave through the track, recalling the lullaby theme while carrying lyrics that shift between the surreal and the biographical - Luisa Rossini, a.k.a. NoN project, is a music producer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ.
NoN project began as a jazz singer before diving into electronic production, blending downtempo, deep house, melodic techno, trip-hop, and nu-jazz. Her style merges Italian-inflected vocals, jazzy warmth, distorted tones, and surreal lyrics with layers of guitar, synths, trumpet, and piano over deep house grooves and syncopated beats. Eclectic and playful, she creates soundscapes that move from dreamy atmospheres to vibrant dance-floor energy, reflecting the diversity of her musical journey.

Since 2019 we organize the Toy Tonics Jams to spread our Toy Tonics style and vibe. They strated in Berion 2019 and since 2022 they take place all over Europe.
