Editorial's new sublabel Clandestine Boogie are back with another fresh and funky release just in time for summer 2018. Following up two outstanding releases, CLB 003 promises not to disappoint as they invite disco smooth-man Sunner Soul along for the next 12” with a 4-track EP entitled "Voyager 84". Along with him comes a mix from Kim & Buran of his Voyager 84 track and collab across two tracks with Russian producer, Scruscru. Sunner Soul now spends his days making music in Saint Petersburg, however is always paying homage to his deeply embedded German roots.

Sunner’s label releases are quite impressive; with releases on Midnight Riot, Editorial and DiscoDat, his talents are obvious to many in the sounds of everything disco, deep & soulful. 2009 saw him start on his own adventure with Vintage Music Records and quickly gained a reputation for the high quality of music, much like Editorial and Clandestine Boogie.

CLB003 is the treat you have been waiting for; four perfectly cut disco anthems each with a special uniqueness of their own. Opening up with the inspiration behind the EP name Voyager 84, accompanied by a Kim & Buran mix on the A2. With the B-side featuring both collaboration tracks, with our delightful smooth premiere ‘Spring Mood’ driving up the energy of the EP. A journey of fat guitars, wonky synths and funky rhythm booting basslines the perfect mix up of house and sensual disco, a sure festival favourite. This is most definitely a record making its way into our bag and should yours too, available from 30th July.

Second volume in the series following the first episode published over a year ago, Boogie Angst’s fresh new VA ‘Boogie Beats Vol.2’ gathers four hot talents from various backgrounds and latitudes to present and extrapolate their own definition of a funky groove.
First up on heavy floor duty, Brighton’s Titeknots flies us to an all-out, slap-bass & piano-splattered vocal disco haven, chock-a-block with playful afternoon vibes and coastal feels. Having earnt himself accolades from some of the tightest players in the game, from Bonobo (‘Buzzard Walk’ made it on his Fabric mix) to Gilles Peterson, via Dimitri From Paris and Nightmares On Wax, Titeknots once again proves the breadth of his talents when it comes to weaving well-oiled filtered house engineering with a touch of cheeky retro-disco glam.
Adeline, a multi-talented French-Caribbean artist and former lead singer of Brooklyn Nu-Disco band Escort, follows on with ‘After Midnight’, as revised for extended dancefloor use by chief trio, Kraak & Smaak. The result is a bass-heavy nu-disco/house roller taking us on a fun jaunt across widescreen seaside vistas and endless desert scapes. An invitation to cast off and dream your way into the world unreservedly, Adeline’s song carries a message of love that resonates with an even deeper echo in these moments of uncertainty.
Pushing further in the direction of spirited post-balearic solace, UK-based DJ and producer Get To Know (previously heard on Kitsuné, Sweat It Out and more) delivers a true masterclass in rhythmic prestidigitation with ‘Love Taught Me', exploring the widest sonic palette to shape up a finely acidulous, Afrobeat-infused, dream-funk number of the finest standard.
Hailing from the colder surroundings of the Volga River, Anton Bogomolov alias Scruscru rounds off the package with a deliciously wonky, revved-up edit of an old gem, ’S For Sexy’, making the most of its brass-laden orchestration, rousing maracas and laser-blaster samples that sound as if dug up from an old Cerrone platter and integrated within their new environment with fun-loving care and attention to detail. Blast away and give in to the power of the ‘Boogie Beats' second iteration.

Israeli artist Kino Todo continues to put himself in the spotlight with an innovative new EP on DJ Tennis's Life And Death that features a track with countrymen Red Axes. 

Todo's multicultural sounds on Jenia Tarsol’s and Chaim’s Blue Shadow records, where he released his first ep with hit banger “Gidafi Na” as well as on Moscoman’s Disco Halal have made him one of the most promising new artists in the scene. He is someone with a psyched out style that fuses long, drawn out drum machine rhythms with intoxicating synths as well as influences from prog and rock. His music is colourful and charming and always refreshingly original. His last release, 'Yasmin', was his biggest yet, but this new offering shows another mature evolution for such a young artist. 

Opener 'Goa Kids' is a bristling and uplifting arrangement that is always on the move. It comes on strong with a percussive jumble of hits and tambourines that ride in loose fashion over a surging groove. Warm, rich bass pumps down low, enchanting flutes and youthful vocal chants all get you locked and take you on a charming trip. The lively 'Paradox' is a more broken beat, with twisted synths and sci-fi sound effects all underpinned by booming kicks as alien vocals are layered in with sirens and pixelated pads. It is a fantastic collision of musical worlds. 

The vital 'Vocus Pocus' is a Middle Eastern rave that overflows with musical imagery, ghoulish vocals, juddering kicks and retro-future synth lasers that prepare you for take off. Last of all, the esteemed Red Axes duo join the party for 'Boom Shaki Boom', a tripped out and freaky cut of Israeli acid techno that is riddled with edgy pads and intergalactic sounds. 

These are complex and characterful tracks that draw on a wide range of cultural references and reimagine them as dance floor dynamite.
