Bill Brewster makes a triumphant return to Sprechen with a recently rediscovered collection of cuts he & (one half of Futureshock) mega producer Alex Tepper crafted under the name Hotel Motel, 3 tracks of straight up house music with a disco edge that are packing some serious dance floor wobbling destructive vibes! All hail the ‘Frottage Pie’ E.P.

Going To A Go Go is a slo-mo chugger which sounds like an escapee from the glory years of Compass Point sessions with snappy & jackin percussion alongside spaced out synth lines & a mutant bass line. Perfect warm up psyched out brilliance. All that’s missing is Grace belting out a few lines as an accompaniment!

Hubbards Hills is just over 8 mins of sheer brilliance. Disco licked house music that is done properly and which hooks you in from the first cued up beat. A piano led breakdown creeps up from out of nowhere with catchy y as heck ‘nah nah hey hey’ style vocal before slamming back in. Straight up-simple and blooming perfect.

To close off the party we have Without You which demands you take the stance of heads down, arms aloft and prepare to grind a hole in the dance floor! As simply led at Hubbards Hills, this is a proper late night house hero with a 3 note sustained synth. Line that firmly wedges in your head alongside a ‘classic’ house rolling bass line. Perfection!

Resista is back for number 10 and this time we welcome Toby Tobias to the family!

Toby has been behind plenty of widely regarded records over the past decade, putting his hand to a large number of releases for labels such as Rekids, Delusions Of Grandeur, More Music, Let’s Play House and most recently ESP Institute.

Needless to say, Toby knows his way around the studio but he’s also equally adept when it comes to cutting and splicing, as you can hear on the title track of this special 12” for Resista, re-editing and embellishing this slice of pure sunshine. For the flip, Toby puts his production hat back on, building a deep, afro-influenced house track and deftly layering the same vocalist on top. Pure balearic bliss!

As always the artwork has been completed by the very talented Pedro Carvalho de Almeida. Vinyl Only.

Joe Claussell joined the MUSHROOM HOUSE series!

The New York City DJ and music originator made one of his rare remixes. For the Toy Tonics series. 
Claussell is a pioneer. Blending African and Brazilian rhythms with Disco and House since the early 1990ies. Inspiring the music world with his labels Spiritual Life Music and Ibadan records and with his legendary Body & Soul parties that he run for 6 years with Francois K and Danny Krivit in NYC. 
For Toy Tonics he remixed an obscure afro funk song by German Afro - Kraut Band Karl Hector & The Malcouns and Nicolas Tounga, singer from Burkina Faso. The original song was released on a limited 7“ on Now Again records/ L.A. in 2008. Sold out for a long time. Claussell’s remix is an amazing 11 minutes afrotechno jam. A great journey though styles.

Also on this EP: Night Masquerade by Vito & Druzzi. Again: NYC guys. You might know the boys also for being part of The Rapture/ DFA. Since a few years they produce electronic music under the name of Vito & Druzzi. Part of New York’s Throne of Blood crew. Some might remember their vocal contribution for Joakim’s Bring Your Love. On their track for Toy Tonics they go tribal. Somewhere between Steve Reich inspired Gamelan pattern, smooth flowing over a 4/4 beat top by a nasty, 1970ies Funk synth solo that turns the whole track into a new direction.

Third track is by Kapote, man behind Toy Tonics and owner of many great records with hot samples. His Besamo Fly is a 110 Bpm slow house jam - makes you think about Mexican beaches or Paris Filter House nights of the 1990ies..
