For entry number 8 in the PPRZ Podcast series, we have a mix from Vancouver's @agimat_iha

IHA (Acceleration/NAGA) is a DJ and producer born out of lockdown. Their sets and production explore the limits of odd rhythms, machinistic frequencies, and leftfield breaks. As a core member of the Acceleration Radio collective, they are committed to creating community and gathering spaces through audiovisual presentations, airing weekly on the FM. 

Other highlights of 2022 include: a Media Arts Committee residency, an Active Passive live PA set, their first festival set at Aqua Lucidity, amongst a number of self-releases, and mixes out on various podcasts and radio shows (Obskur Techno, PHTM, Kopi Records, Art of Beatz).

This mix for PPRZ narrates an unsympathetic and harsh winter, mixing dystopia with the otherworld through a collection of dub, disjointed DNB/techno, unusual glitches and textures, and wistful ambient tones.

Oh, December! 🎄Time for fireside chillin' with friends and fam, with a glass of tasty natural wine in hand (easy listening music playing in the background). That’s what we call relaxing.

To warm up the cold December we’ve invited a wine enthusiast and a great selector – @ericfilipus – to mix it up for us. Eric enjoys his life mainly in Barcelona nowadays, so it’s more than special to have his warm touch to the What Are You Listening? -mix series. This December's heating up already. 💚

”I choose records that I would wanna sip wine to in a hazy bar setting, nothing too uplifting, simply just good listening music, the stuff you can listen to for hours, sophisticated, yet warm and playful.” That’s how Eric describes the mix clearly sipping a special wine at the same time.

🍷 And our wine for the holiday season is Nehrer's Leithaberg DAC Blaufränkisch! 🍷

With cherry and spice and everything nice, this Blaufänkisch pairs well with the season's foods or you can share it by itself with friends.

Grown on the unique lime and slate soil of Leithaberg, Nehrer's Leithaberg Blaufränkisch exudes the vineyard's minerality. Hand picked and sustainably produced, the wine ferments spontaneously in steel containers. Maturation happens in 500 and 2000 liter wooden barrels for 9 months on lees. 

Nehrer family’s vineyard is located in Burgenland on the hills of Leitha Mountain. The area’s terroir consists of a warm climate cooled by cold winds and a soil consisting of clay and lime. These factors create structurally elegant wines which exude the terroir in their flavor.

Unfined, no added sulphites, vegan. Available at Alko Arkadia and the Webshop.

Throughout the years in the industry and contributions through nightclubs, community radios, record shops, and listening bars, Eric is known for his diverse taste both as a DJ and musical curator. After spending a decade within the music scene in Helsinki, Finland, Eric decided a couple years ago to change the scenery to Mediterranean coast in Barcelona. 

For this 3rd episode of lazed mix series, Eric Filipus takes us somewhere between mountains, seas and forests. An hour voyage deeply rooted on the tribal spectrum and a glimpse of the folklore of an imaginary civilization that we can draw in our mind while listening...

Eric: "The mix is a sum of a months long music journal, centered around spiritual listenings. For a change, I chose not to actively search for tracks. Instead, while listening to music over the past few months, I set aside every piece that resonated within the spiritual context, in sort of a journal way…

Bringing all these pieces of music almost blindly to the studio and intuitively selecting each record while recording felt natural and more importantly honest. It was like gathering moments from the recent past and arranging them in a completely new order. I find value in this approach, where extensive research and preparation lead to a spontaneous compilation at the last moment. 

Every track is played in its entirety, so it’s more of a curational thing, rather than a mixtape. I hope you have peaceful times and can feel at least some of these moments while listening to the recording.
