There's a dirt road in the valley where the railroad used to be
They've taken up the iron track now all that you can see
Is a trail of weeds and gravel, where fortunes and failures had their day
And who knows where the wind will blow if no-one cares about it anyway.

There's a heartbeat in my body that only sounds for you
When I recall the times we had when you don't make me blue
Now the weeds are growing 'round me, drowning out the light that makes me whole
And love will come and love will go but yours' will always be inside my soul.

I can recall those glad times, running like a railroad, carrying that payload thru my old mind.
