Our Swedish connection and acid lover Högt I Tak is banging his EP „Acid Variants Of Concern“ on our beloved Möhre Rekorder and fills everything with fattened 303 bass lines and forward going grooves. Högt I Tak means as much as „no topics are off the table“ or „everything is possible“. Thats how Janne Berglund celebrates music. He lately started the label „When Disco Goes Wrong“ and hosts his radio shows all committed to 303 and acid grooves. This four track release with two originals is rounded up by remixes of AantiGen and Luíz Sabema.

This recording is from the closing set of The High Frequency podcast’s first party in Auckland held at Ink Bar earlier this year.

The dominant vibe of the night was minimal but I was excited to be playing at a time and a place that would lend itself to a heavier sound than I usually get to play and so headed in a heftier direction until one of the dancers up front asked for “more groove!”. 

I’m always happy to fulfil a reasonable request when I can and so things took a turn towards soulful house which there was good energy in the room for. As 4am closing beckoned the Kelbin remix of Cloudy by Daphni (aka Caribou) seemed like a beautifully melodic way to conclude the evening and usher everyone out into the chaos of Karangahape Road’s Saturday night coming to its (licensed) end.
