Mister Water Wet is the alias of Iggy Romeu - producer, DJ, and fixture based out of the Kansas City scene that produced West Mineral Ltd and C Minus, among myriad other great producers and DJs. Always intriguing, Romeu’s music drifts into vague, enigmatic territory - channeling 90’s ambient, fourth world, exotica, and library to forge a sound that is uniquely his own. On a dreary, rainy night in late January, Mister Water Wet brought his signature sound to Nina HQ.

Hash is minced meat, and refers to the minced textures glued together and is a bit of a parody of the 'acid' genre ;)

Onto the information about how I did it:

First off, the word hash is a reference to the method I used to create the synth sounds. Hash = minced meat. I basically "minced" a lot of different formanty sounds and stuck them together(it's more complicated than this). It's also a play on the 'acid' genre which has similar sounds, but I'm using a very different technique to elicit similar sounds associated with acid, so i've decided to call it 'hash'. I'm clearing this up because I keep getting messages about people talking about their recent fun with 'hash' but i've had enough of that :)

I got to use a modular setup for the first time. Spent many hours on the thing and came back with tons of samples some of which I've microedited and such later in my DAW. I'd say about 70-80% of the sounds are sampled from the synth.

Reason I did this was to separate making sounds and sequencing them as it's easy to get bogged down continuing to make sounds.

 Toward the end I used his disklavier :)) I wrote the midi for a vst initially, but then used it on a real piano, sampled it, then edited it afterward. For some reason on his old one you get a stringy kinda sound that appealed to me when you arppegiate.

From Greystar ... "Aphex Twin's seminal work, Selected Ambient Works 85-92, came out 32 years ago today.

This is a passion project commemorating this great work. Over 40 artists have come together to put forth their unique versions, remixes, covers, reworks, and recreations of these tracks!

This project has a bit of history. It has been in the works since before 2016.

Before this Bandcamp page existed, I was involved in a few "Aphex Twin Tribute compilations" organized on the /r/aphextwin subreddit. Eventually, folks decided to tackle covering the entirety of Selected Ambient Works 85-92. This culminated in "Selected Ambient Covers 2016", a soundcloud-exclusive release that fell short of its lofty goal: not all tracks were covered, and some of the tracks were unfinished. Since then, I've led projects covering Selected Ambient Works Vol. II, ...I Care Because You Do, and Drukqs, among others, all seemingly more ambitious than the last! Having met so many new talented artists from all of these projects, it felt like the right time to return to SAW85-92 and do it justice.

Anyways, I'm a bit tired, I might write more here later ... there's a few tracks missing from CD #2, marked as "[COMING SOON]". They'll be ready in time for the physical CD, but needed a lil extra time to be finished before this digital release. They'll be added here in post, so keep an eye out! Follow this page if you want to be notified of when they're added. I heard a snippet of WHRK's Hedphelym Remix and it's very very good, you won't wanna miss it.

Glasgow-based producer Conna Haraway returns to Theory Therapy with his first vinyl release, 'Spatial Fix'. Inspired in part by his 2024 tour of Japan and Korea, the album explores new dimensions of his evolving sound.

Since 'Lusidiq' – his debut on Theory Therapy – the co:clear owner has honed his ability to balance introspective atmospheres with crisp, meticulously crafted rhythms, imbuing his music with a physicality that’s as tactile as it is hypnotic.

'Spatial Fix' expands on this approach in every respect. Clocking in at just under 35 minutes, the record oscillates between ambient abstraction and rhythmic intensity, seamlessly weaving the two together. Tracks like “Freon” and “1702” are anchored by a propulsive low end, woven through with Haraway’s crackling textures and field recordings – including those captured across Asia last year. Even in these deeply immersive moments, there’s always something luminous lurking beneath the surface – snaps, clicks, and micro-shudders ripple throughout in strange and surprising ways. Conna Haraway - Spatial Fix (snippets)

@karisa-correa - 'cold metal, heavy mind' is part of Gravity Pleasure's inaugural release, Water Bodies: a rippling compilation of FLINTA* artists and collaborators that invites listeners into an aqueous paraworld.

Across 21 tracks, Water Bodies spans a post-genre miasma of ethereal mermaid music, cathartic flows, and glistening sibilants ~ each one an exquisite message-in-a-bottle of deep diving emotionality. Pulling from a wide-range of musical perspectives ~ field recording, lovesick ballads, shimmering downtempo, post-party comedown, and percolating ambient ~ the compilation contains multitudes yet maintains deep sentimental coherence. Like a wave crashing in slow motion, it sonifies possible ways of being, insisting on the porous, the interdependent, and the deep and unruly.
