Born with the intention to launch the revival of 1970s italo disco, Toulouse-based label @ritmofatale revels in kitsch-tinged sounds. Their monthly sets showcase a variety of sounds, from italo disco to EBM, to new beat and trance, establishing their signature futuristic vibe.

SHEA Radio #079: The Hacker

Michel Amato's contribution to electronic music can barely be overstated. As TheHacker, and under different aliases, he has inspired generations of dance music fans and artists. Since his first release in 1996, Amato had a Techno phase, dipped into EBM, sci-fi tinged Electro and New Wave, but is perhaps most famous as a founding father of Electroclash. He met a kindred spirit in Miss Kittin and together they became of one the most iconic duos in electronic music, with hits such as 'Champagne' (1998) and 'Frank Sinatra' (2000) selling hundreds of thousands of records.

In 2004, Amato released his most well-recieved album to date, 'Rêves Mécaniques', and the years since witnessed Amato put out a wide array of club mutations on many leading labels, including a double LP for his own label Zone.

Today, he is as in-demand as ever, with a highly-acclaimed album, 'Le ThéâtreDes Opérations' landing on Dark Entries in 2017 and contributions to tastemakers like Helena Hauff, Erol Alkan and Veronica Vasicka's labels since. In the live and DJ environment, Amato is as revered as he is on record, playing high-profile events such as Dekmantel, Berghain, Nuits Sonores and Off Sonar.

When it comes to techno, electro, and more importantly Electroclash, few can argue The Hacker’s credentials. The Frenchman was instrumental in the formative years of these movements and being active since the mid-90s has meant his discography is positively bursting with pivotal moments from electronic music. It is nearly impossible to discuss The Hacker without mentioning Miss Kittin, with some of their work such as “Champagne” EP including seminal tracks “Frank Sinatra” and “!982”. This is of course only a small, but not very important part of The Hacker’s story. With a string of solo albums and countless EPs to his name, the cross-section of electronic music that The Hacker enjoys is wide. The German-Swiss friendship is further established with BiGOTT, the collaborative project between Berlin-based Sneaker and Zurich's Scannoir. After their previous releases as ½GOTT and GOTT on Uncanny Valley and some remixes, the duo returns with a third solo EP, marking their first appearance on the Berlin-Basel-based label Reach Another System. Their passion for EBM, Synth Pop, and New Beat comes to life with a fine array of classic drum machines and FM-synths, topped with Teutonic lyrics and archival samples. The A-side opens with a bang: "Magnet" critiques social expectations and pressures, backed by hard-hitting snares and tom fill-ins in Front 242 fashion. Next up, "Tschernobyl" warps the listener back to 1986 – a musical report of the Soviet nuclear disaster. Equally dystopian, the B-side hymn "Matrix Leben" depicts life inside a structured system that continually shapes and restricts us. The final track "7 Minuten" pushes the limits of restless staccato EBM madness. Mission accomplished!

"Origami" is a famous Japanese art of folding paper into a decorative figure, and is now also the fruit of the musical collaboration between Barcelona-based producer Ludviq and Australia-based multifaceted Poulper. 

Indeed, born from the recent time spent in the studio by both producers, their new EP testifies to the symbiosis between Bonkers Music´s Ludviq and Quixotical Records´Poulper. Together, they deliver the singles "Origami" and "Crystal Cactus", both tracks blending each producer's quintessential musical wizardry. In their new record, Ludviq´s dark psychedelic slow techno textures meet Poulper´s more atmospheric and deep organic layers, which sounds as enigmatic and thought-provoking as an original Japanese origami. 

After a first successful single release "Cosmovision" via Golden Soul Records in 2022, THISBE Recordings is delighted to release Ludviq & Poulper first collab EP, both on a limited vinyl edition and on all digital platforms. For Marcela Dias Sindaco’s third release on the Oklahoma City label Fixed Rhythms, she delivers a full-length 2xLP of her characteristically magical electro. These songs were recorded in various studios across Brazil, capturing the intangibles of Brazilian city life. You can hear her influences (Detroit techno, kosmische synth travel, electro, etc.), but she distills it all yet again into something completely her own. Whenever you listen to her music, you know it’s her. Hypnotizing electro made on warm machines with her sung/spoken Portuguese woven enchantedly throughout…truly sublime listening. This is a 16 track groove journey that will make you a Marcela fan if you aren’t already one.

The two black 12”s come housed in a beautiful jacket that offers you a glimpse into Marcela’s world. The background of the artwork on the backside features a wallpaper design that you may find in an old home in Brazil. Inside is an insert written by Italian curator and philosopher Massimo Torrigiani. Only 300 copies pressed…don’t sleep on this one.

Bio:

Ruksby (Alexander Klygin) is a Moscow-based producer, cofounder "OMERTA RECORDS". 
His musical preferences is a constant experiment with sound, blending acid rhythms, melancholic disco, powerful ebm and electro. 
The boundaries of genres are blurred: sometimes these styles mix within a single composition, creating a unique hybrid, while at other times, he explores each direction separately.
