"Crises invite introspection. To counter the social and cultural void of 2020 we have asked friends and favorite artists to analyze, extract and recombine our electric DNA for the TRUST XY recombination series.

DJ Glow’s (@gl03) ‘The City’ opened the first TRUST release back in 1998 and starts off XY.1 as well. Viennese duo /DL/MS/ (@dl-ms), whose album debut will drop on TRUST later this year, turns its brittle lo-fi funk into an airy electro stepper, complete with the original’s classic arcade samples.

Keith Tucker needs no introduction as a Detroit techno master, from early Direct Beat to this year's Optic Nerve album for Axis Records. Microthol (@microthol) remixed his ‘Plastic People’ back in 2003, and he returns the favor with a slamming electrofunk take on ‘Binary Systems’ (TRUST18).

Two masked electro heavyweights and TRUST alumni meet on side B, with The Exaltics (@the-exaltics) reshaping DJ Stingray’s (@djstingrayofficial) ‘Herd Instinct’ from TRUST20. Sherard Ingram’s unmistakably lightfooted beats are paired with a propulsive bassline and seductive synths of The Exaltics’ design.

With Privacy (@privacyprivacy) we have shared DJ booths, bunk beds and hangovers, and we are very happy to welcome him to TRUST at last. He chose to deconstruct ‘Eha’ off VC-118A’s (@mohlao) debut EP (TRUST22). Always one to gleefully sidestep expectations he winds down the original’s sparse electro dub into a foreboding doomsday hip hop instrumental.

Future parts of the XY recombination series will feature remixes by Ultradyne, Peter Mannerfelt, Alex Cortex, Clatterbox, Stenny, D.Tiffany, Microthol, Second Storey, DJ Di’jital, Luxus Varta, and more."

Christian Kroupa, aka Alleged Witches, and LCN (Le Chocolate Noir) combine to launch new imprint KRI with their expansive ‘Worlds Connect’ EP, accompanied by a remix from Alessandro Adriani.
A new imprint hailing from Ljublijana, Slovenia, KRI aims to capture the lost futures of EBM, electro and nu-wave from the 80s while pairing them with future-focused productions of the now. Named after post-punk group Otroci Socializma, the label ran by local DJs and promoters Schrauff & Lavka will showcase records enjoyed both in the club and at home, while re-issuing obscure and timeless records alongside fresh material from producers across the globe. The first instalment welcomes a well-crafted journey and debut collaboration between Christian Kroupa, arriving off his LP on Natural Sciences under his Alleged Witches alias, and Return to Disorder and L.I.E.S. alumnus LCN (aka Le Chocolate Noir), with the two producers serving up their eclectic ‘World’s Connect’ EP - backed by a remix from Mannequin boss Alessandro Adriani. Opening production ‘The Quest’ welcomes a futuristic electro ride through warped vocals and resonant synths to set the tone, before Alessandro Adriani’s take on the track dives into darker, murkier territories as he serves up a powerful acid-flecked remix. On the flip, ‘The Hate That You Preach’ continues the dystopian feel with a chuggy production guided by vocal echoes, while ‘Electro City Express’ takes cues from its title with a surging, sweeping journey through cinematic synths. B3 ‘Contraint Attached’ rounds out the vinyl offering with a dark yet immersive and absorbing tumble through post-punk, EDM and synth-wave influences for an intoxicating trip. The release also comes with a digital bonus in the form of the PAN YU version of ‘Electro City Express’ - offering up a ray of light and an abundance of energy via intergalactic leads, bubbling electronics and nimble percussion throughout.

When I found out about Wibo’s death I was crushed, as most of us were. Firstly, I thought it was one of his jokes, he had a sharp sense of a humour, but not in a harmful way; he just loved to move you out of your comfort zone. We worked on this EP for almost a year. Wibo wanted to be involved with me again somehow but collabs were not an option, since we had different studio setups (similar but not close enough). I also didn’t want to distract him from his work on his full-length album at that time. We had done remixes for each other sometime ago (Evan's Gambit was done in 2018.) He wanted to include the Stormfront remix too, but I rejected that idea since I no longer have the stems and project files needed to do a mixdown that would do the track justice. For the Future Eyes remix we had a project file and partial stems, but not the original samples that he used. I did my best to pimp it a bit because the low end was lacking and because it was my favourite remix and, most importantly, it is the first remix w1b0 did for someone. I hope you will enjoy this release.
Dear Wibo, I hope you will forgive me for dragging out the release of our EP celebrating our long and close friendship. We will hit the release date that we spoke about originally though. I had said there was no hurry as I had two releases that were in the pipeline and you agreed, telling me that good things take time. I wish we could do more since we now have almost identical setups, or at least most of the equipment we use daily is the same. You may notice on the record there is no information e.g., artist names, track names, catalogue number and so on. It does not matter to me; I am not important here - the music is the most important thing, along with our friendship. I hope you will agree with me. That is why this release comes with an A4 insert instead, dedicated to you. It was a blessing to have you as a friend.
