For the 31st edition we welcome E-bony aka @naor-dayan to our mix series, an up-and-coming DJ and producer from Tel Aviv’s underground, holding residencies at the infamous Alphabet Club and of the international well-known queer nights & label ‘PAG’, in addition to having releases on infamous labels such as Slow Motion, Wrong Era, Italo Moderni, Dalmata Daniel to name a few.

Naor, born and raised in one of Tel-Aviv’s somewhat challenging areas, got him fleeing to the city’s center at an early age, where he was exposed to Tel-Aviv’s electronic music scene, since this point E-bony has been developing unarguable taste and skill for music, in his productions and behind the decks you can hear a combination of Techno, Electro and Italo with a smooth movement between darkness, lights and groove.

E.R.P. AKA Convextion returns with first original material in four years, with four new tracks of machine funk electro.

Intergalactic sounds envelop tight grooves in this futuristic new EP by Gerard Hanson, the genius mind behind the E.R.P. and Convextion aliases responsible for some of the most talked about electro records of the last two decades. He’s now dropping four fresh tracks of cosmic greatness on influential Spanish record label Apnea records, which recently reissued Heinrich Mueller & Beta Evers’ ‘Experiment Defined’.

‘Lake Bachman’ kicks off this mysterious and introspective journey, its warm, analog bass taking root as wandering synths float above crisp 808 rhythms. ‘Summer Springs’ follows up with the steady squelch of an arpeggio, swelling pads teasing the listener’s curiosity as ethereal keys gently touch the surface. The machines then take over in ‘Myrtle’, seemingly developing a language of bleeps and zaps with irresistible arps and soft synths breaking through for brief intermissions. Lastly, ‘Station Wagon’ drops the curtain with more rich melodies and a unique depth, wrapping up this sublime EP from the pivotal artist

Gerard Hanson’s catalogue is a true treasure trove reaching back to the late ‘90s. This vast discography spanning both his aliases helped shape the electro scene, as well as vital labels such as Frustrated Funk and its sublabels, with tracks appearing on Craig Richards’ carefully curated Fabric compilations twice. His refined production style makes him one of the most respected names in electronic music, with ‘Untitled’ fitting in as yet another must have for collectors.

Although sound is his medium, what is seen is central to Larionov’s new 12”; I Want To Believe. After scanning the heavens, the Russian producer lands with six tracks that encompass a spectrum of electronics. A glistening dawn of bright melodies and murky basslines introduces “Morning Light”, crisp percussion adding balance and ballast. Aquatic lines and soulful arcs are at the core of “Across the Sky” before the bold synth stabs and rasping rhythms of “External Twilight.” Illuminating the flip is the sci-fi inspired “Strange Lights” with the eclipsing shades and tones of “Shadows” darkening speakers while igniting floors. The close is the future gazing “Space and Time.” Fluid strings, reverberating arpeggiators and vocoder lyrics are kept in check by incising snares in this superb finale.

Spammerheads, in collaboration with Soil Records (the label with which the Valencia-based band has already released two of their previous works), presents their new album titled Disclaimer. With this new release, set to be issued on a 12" vinyl, Spammerheads reaffirms their preference for industrial sounds firmly rooted in old-school EBM, while also solidifying a sound they have made their own. 

Disclaimer is a powerful work, pulsating with frenetic energy, where the tracks hit with intensity, delivering a blend of fun, dark humor, and a desire to get the dance floor moving through potent rhythmic sequences, thick basslines, and decisive melodies. As is customary, Disclaimer's vocals and lyrics guide us through different emotional states, traversing fury, urgency, dissatisfaction, and a bit of attitude, ultimately culminating in the album's final track in a better place - love.

TANS – The Unfaithful Husband EP


The next vinyl record from Squirrels On Film is a special edition white label by TANS. The Unfaithful Husband EP contains four filthy acid laced electric body movers from Southern Italy's Michelle Tansella. Michelle currently lives in Berlin where he makes industrial techno with his cousin Mike Tansella Jr as SONS OF TRADERS, & has released experimental cassettes on the UK's Seagrave label, but his roots go back to the Italian Hip Hop scene of the 80s & early 90s with a group called Zona 45.

Il Marito Infedele begins the EP & its tape saturated industrial throb evokes the best of that distinctive sound of underground European dance music whose thread runs through Italo Disco, Cold Wave & Acid House. A sinister groove for a giallo séance, the electric tom tom drums pound away against a murky bed of rhythmic fuzz, eventually surrendering to the four on the floor energy flash. The edges stay rough throughout, resulting in a delightfully dirty, unpolished funk.

Vera Vera combines the arpeggiated synthitic bass of classic Italo with late 80s Windy City Wax Trax & Acid. A snap of white noise snare squish keeps time until the WBMX beat hits. A proper atonal synth freakout squeals its way out of some primitive extra terrestrial party machine then the beat takes over again, emphasizing the low frequencies of the groove.

Growing Concern is where the tab kicks in all the way. Distorted 303, blown-out 707 complete with unapologetic cow bell take the body on a journey through a strobe light smoke machine sweat-drenched laser rave fantasy. It's a feeling of walls being brought down, and there doesn't seem to be any way back.

Missing Foundation is another lysergic banger, a drum machine drawing Fibonacci sequences in your brain as you transcend the grimy warehouse where you left your body. The timeless glow of consensual dancefloor utopia burns bright even when you close your eyes, the monochrome of this white label having exploded into technicolor pixels & smiling yellow faces repeating infinitely to the vanishing point of the imagination.
