Three small bones within the inner ear operate to transmit periodic air pressure changes. A passive stimulus-response mechanism, Mechanoreceptor traverses amongst multiple dimensions, synthesising the vast array of phenomena. While input is multi-sensory, the auditory instantiations constitute the output encoded by Mechanoreceptor. Spectral Decomposition recounts various entities/observations from the Aviary upon delicate analysis of the spectral properties that compose such observations - here, oceans, gemstones, and the great Electrophorus Electricus (otherwise known as the Electric Eel).

A peer-reviewed EP, co-authors Jadzia and Go Nuclear supply their unique input to round off the EP.

Mechanoreceptor - Aviary Dwellings EP [No Static Automatic // NSA008]

New Zealander producer Mechanoreceptor is next up on No Static / Automatic presenting his steel-cold electro productions inspired by life and travel. Aviary Dwellings EP is a personal document of the artist's life setting out on the road travelling from his home country of New Zealand through Asia before landing in Germany. Along the way he observes experiences and reimagines them through his production, transcribing visual and tactile life experiences from the lens of a parallel reality named The Aviary.

Each track tells a story of his worldly experience. ‘Taxi Funk’ documents the taxis roaming silently through the city streets of Fukuoka, Japan. ‘Gamma Correction’ is born from the artist's time working in science labs in visual neuroscience. ‘Korean Couture’ is inspired by high fashion within Seoul, South Korea. ‘EZ-3 Wire’ and ‘Reducing Ties’ both come from a materials used for heart surgery procedures, from Mechnoreceptor’s time in medical manufacturing. Manta-ray Oscillator and Oxygenated Pearls. documents part of his experience scuba diving in the seas of Indonesia.

Wiremu Hohaia is the artist behind Mechanoreceptor, an entity drifting between, across, and within unexplored realms within The Aviary, a fictional hyper dimensional world. A research-intensive project, the Aviary’s myriad of intricate physical properties are slowly unveiling themselves. Commonplace phenomena have been discovered to be dynamic and fluid. Hardened surfaces melt into streams of chrome, waterfall mists convert to breathing curtains of diamond dust, and snowfall is instead composed of oriental ceramic shavings. Mechanoreceptor has appeared on Crazed Behaviour, Posse Up, Avoidant, and Ovelha.

As our third release, we are extremely excited to present a release from Belgian producer 6SISS, who has been featured on a number of highly respected labels. Each of his new releases is like an exploratory journey into the world of experimentation and unconventional solutions in the field of timbres and polyrhythms.

The EP features five tracks, each exploring a unique facet of the MycoMaterials symbiosis. It's impossible to take each track in isolation. All five tracks present themselves as one unbreakable whole.
"Bacteria" immediately, without any delay boldly opens the journey, bringing with it a raw experimental energy. "Permalife" continues the movement with its addictive rhythms, symbolising the eternal cycle of life and decay. "Mycelium" interweaves complex textures reflecting the underground networks that sustain life. "Yypsis" features glitchy, hypnotic rhythms that put the listener into a trance with extraordinary speed. Finally, "Toxin" closes the release with dark, acidic notes, epitomising the tension between growth and decay in nature.

PRZ reports for duty for the 9th release in the Hilltown Disco series with six no-nonsense, commanding, electro-cuts, delving into intergalactic territory with "Red Material".

Chateau Royal boss, Gal Perez has featured twice on Hilltown Disco's charity compilations, making Perez a familiar face on the label.  Tel-Aviv based, PRZ spent over a year finely-tuning 'Red Material', flexing his rich and extensive production levels.

The 12" features some of the most intense and twisted, bass-heavy tracks the label has released to date.  With fizzing drum machine beats, deep, space acid-lines, and the occasional disgruntled cyborg, Gal creates certified future-classics for the Hilltown Disco imprint.

Born in Aotearoa (New Zealand), Wiremu Hohaia is a visual artist, producer, writer, and DJ with a background in sensory neuroscience. Wiremu is currently based in Berlin, Germany. 

“Mechanoreceptor is a project I use to explore a semi-fictional world I call the Aviary. Here, sound is offered as a direct translation of the visual features, often interpreting such phenomena and objects as ceramic dust snowfall, bronze statues, light reflectance, and crystallised wind. As an artist, I enjoy romanticising the relationship between light and the objects it meets. Imagining how this relationship exists in purely auditory space satisfies my curiosity further.”
