"Every 4,044 years comet Calanhi enters the inner solar system, returning from its cold and silent voyage through the Oort cloud. As it approaches perihelion, billions on Earth gaze into the night sky, transfixed by the celestial spectacle of their lifetime. While solar winds tear at the comet’s surface, deep inside the glowing ball of ice, ancient machinery springs to life."

Over the past five years /DL/MS/ (@dl-ms) have been continually commuting through the electro singularity, constructing their unique brand of fragile bass music from extradimensional sound salvage, and spreading their electrifying frequency patterns via the pirate subspace channels of @frustratedfunk, @pomelorecords, @vigram and TRUST.

‘Calanhi’ is the Austrian production outfit‘s debut album – 12 tracks that combine the perpetually fresh aesthetics of Detroit-style electro with a relentless curiosity for rhythmic and harmonic experimentation. Seismic club thumpers like ’Invisible Bits’, ‘Mountains’, and ‘Trusted Funk’ alternate with moody ambient interludes, boldly constructed beat inventions, and blissfully melodic acid breaks. Two collaborations further switch up the flow: Nigerian artist @g-rizo (@hezekinapollutina, DeeJay Gigolo) drops her conspirational rhymes on ‘Divide & Conquer’, and Spanish singer @isiskuaygarond lends her vocal talents to ‘Accelerated Frequency’.

‘Invisible Bits’ will be released as a digital single on March 21. ‘Divide & Conquer’ will follow as a second single on April 11.

Avoidant drops Part II of the Distortion Strategy series, focusing on some of the best up and coming Electro producers from across the globe currently making waves in the scene. Each artist brings their unique take on the genre from classic upfront, club focused tracks to the more thought provoking.

Previous collaborator, Confluence, opens with ‘Wrong Clocks’, a twisted and brooding affair - the young producers adept sound design shines through. Blast Attack quickens the pace sharply with the sci-fi inspired ‘Singularity’, as it’s mind melting synth hooks and FX twist and turn at every corner. Maltese Sound Synthesis drops the UK Bass influenced ‘Auditory Space’. A proper squelchy yet emotive track, its searing pads glisten atop radiating percussive synths. Continuing on the emotive tip, New Delhi based Zequenx’s ‘Imposter Alert’ creates a contemplative atmosphere through precision programming as she makes each element in the track flow perfectly into another. USA artist Terrestrial Access Network’s deep and absorbing ‘Stress’ closes out the VA and crisp 808 beats lay the foundations to an ethereal soundscape of lush pads and buzzing bass.

SMPL SMPL ( Simas Petkevičius) - a saxophone player and producer. Influenced by styles such as avant-garde and jazz and driven by the left-field/breakbeat/house music he has released his third album.

Album's twelve tracks are stated as questions in the form of a musical discussion. Formed in the shape of minimalistic, breakbeat, left-field dance music, deviating from the norm with an atmosphere of experimental ambient/drone/cinematic/free-improvised genres.

The artist will probably leave you with more questions than answers; listening to the Album with peace in your mind or while dancing and understanding that it was always about the right question.

From Bristol to NYC – Zobol makes his debut on Melodize with two vibrantly coloured electro jams complemented and enhanced by two powerful remixes from Carl Finlow and Plant43.

‘Meridian’ draws the line straight down the dancefloor between electro and techno. Light in foot but heavy in trunk, there’s an alluring spring in the breaks and subtle sense of hope and euphoria as Zobol eases us into a positive mindset. Sheffield stalwart Carl Finlow flips the coin for a more sober perspective. A much more classically informed slice of electro, swollen with poignancy, it’s the dark side of ‘Meridian’ bright moon.

‘YCKL’ turns up the contrast once again. Warm, bright splashes ooze in chord-form over a lava-like bassline that gently pushes up the drama and theatre as the track progresses. Once again, there’s a sense of triumph running throughout as Zobol edges us higher and higher. Remix-wise, Bleep43 founder Plant43 keeps that brightness but adds his own sense of spring and wily funk, bringing an unpredictable attack and utilising the euphoric keys of the original much earlier on in the arrangement.

Two beautiful originals, two precision remixes; one important reminder that electro can be one of the funkiest, most uplifting styles in the electronic cannon when crafted in the right hands. Melodize have created some exceptional alchemy right here.

Being part of Vienna’s electronic music underground as a DJ, Producer and Live/Studio-Musician since 1995, MSTEP’s basslines where featured on several releases by Pulsinger & Tunakan’s label Cheap Entertainment. From his first appearance on „Puta“, a track on the album „Carrera“ by Sluts & Strings & 909 in 1996 onwards, MSTEP a.k.a. Martin Stepanek regularly pushed the studio buttons alongside the legendary producer duo until it’s split in 2004. Besides being a live/studio bassist on projects such as B.Low, Restaurant Tracks and Louie Austen, MSTEP released music with his band 550 Rondy and with the lo-ser gameboy pocketnoise-project on Cheap Entertainment and on Temp~ Records. In 2011 MSTEP launched his own label Sounding Functions and released various EPs there. 2017 saw the Release of "Cold Dust" on Berlin Electro Label TRUST. MSTEPs Music combines various influences coming from IDM, Ambient, Detroit Techno/Electro, Jungle/Drum&Bass and Dubstep.
